I looked at this too, basically the system seems to use the abs sensors to monitor the speed of the wheels compared with the other / known information. If one wheel is under inflated it will have a smaller circumference and will have a higher rpm then the others. So a button/indicator light, plus coding should be all that is required. if any finds the part number can you post it please.

I specced this, but the dealers cocked up and its not been fitted, I havent accepted the car yet, and he's looking into if they can retrofit it, bloody well better, This is my first new car and the whole point was to get a car that is how I want it, could have saved alot of time and money and gone for something off there stock if I wasnt arsed. Any one evr find out if the dealers will do this?

Alan - If you checked for the tyre pressure monitor by simply looking for the button by the gear stick, then you won't find it there anyway - In the new Sciroccos (MY2010 models) the tyre pressure button has been relocated to inside the glove box. Check there!

You only have to press the button when the tyre pressures have been measured and are correct, as pressing the button (I believe it needs to be held down for a few seconds) records the relevant data and uses this to detect further drops in pressure. So as the button is not used daily, it doesn't need to be on display.

As above, odd place to put when theres all the available blanks in front of the gear lever, but anyway, happy now, assuming it is there!

So did anyone try and retro fit this?

I have the kit from Kufatec for the Mk 5 Golf - most wires are easy to fit and piggy-back off the ESP switch.

The only problem is that there is on wire that goes to the ABS ECU control unit.

The instructions for a Mk 5 Golf say put it into pin 27 on the control unit - the question is - Is this the same for the Scirocco??

Ok after some research this looks easy.... connect up to the existing ESP switch and then one wire to PIN 41 of the ABS ECU.

Looks like the method has been tested on other VW cars..

Think I will give this a go - just two questions left - confirmation of the location of the ABS ECU module and the correct coding for VAGCOM!

I retrofitted the TPMS to an 2005 A3 recently. The system works the same as in the Scirocco as the platforms are nearly identical.

It was very simple to do - one wire to +12V, one wire to the ABS Control Module (Pin 27?) and another wire to any other dash button for illumination. The button on the dash only serves as a 'reset' button for when you inflate/change tyres etc., and works by sending +12V to the pin on the ABS module which puts the system back into 'learning mode'. Once fitted, the system has to be enabled with VCDS.

Think I will give this a go - just two questions left - confirmation of the location of the ABS ECU module and the correct coding for VAGCOM!

The location of the ABS module on the A3 and Golf 5 is on the bulkhead at the far right (passenger) side. It has a large plug on the side of it (facing the driver's side). I guess it won't be far different on the roc.

As for VCDS, the subtraction of 0016384 from the coding of the ABS control module is needed.

I saw in some diagrams that the control unit was on the left (looking at the engine from the front of the car)... there appears to be two units that look ABS like on the ROC - on the left and the right...

Could You post a couple of pictures of the parts and especially the ABS unit?

I purchased the kit from Kufatec for the Golf 5 - seems to be the same switch and the wiring looks good for the Scirocco - seemed to be the easiest and quickest way to get the bits needed!

No problem.. hope to do it this weekend.. getting at the ABS unit looks a pain though!

Managed to make a start on the retrofit of the TPMS switch but did not manage to complete it.

Fitting the switch is no issue at all in the centre console and routing the ABS control unit wire from the switch into the engine bay is easy as well. There is a large bundle of wires in the passenger footwell, that a cable tie can be pushed through the gromit with the wire on. This bundle of cables comes through about 20cm from the plug which you need to put the wire into! Easy!

Getting at the plug on the ABS unit is easy once you remove the battery and the plastic box around it - again very easy!
Now the problem comes with the plug of the ABS control unit.

On all the forums and details that I have seen, you need to put the wire into hole 27 and if this is taken into 41.

Now from what I can work, if the car has DSG and the hill-start function, hole 27 is taken and so hole 41 should be used instead.

The problem comes in that I have no existing wire in hole 27 or 41 and my car has the DSG box with the hill-start function, which comes as standard with the Scirocco.

So the question is... which hole should be used!

This is the plug and the wires currently into the ABS control unit....
Any one got any ideas or can confirm with some VW wiring diagram??

One wire and I can then confirm if it works or not! Arghhhhh!

What about without DSG? Is it the same??

Any chance you could post a picture of the diagram you got this from and confirm the ABS controller part number that is used for PIN 35 just in case it is different?

Do not want to wire the 12v wrongly back to the ABS plug!

No difference in the wiring diagram for manaul or DSG. Wouldnt expect there to be any difference tbh and the ABS system is the same.
