Just had the same fault diagnosed on my 2.0 TSi. Not impressed 43000miles, 5 year old and full VW Service History. Its out of warranty, but does any one have any recent experience of getting it covered under goodwill by VW. Only reasonable, I think, as it is obviously a VW design fault to have to replace the inlet manifold.
I've driven Italian cars for the last 20 years, and for all their quirks I never had such an expensive repair job after such an easy life.....
Cheers

I rang VW about a goodwill gesture and found that after knocking a £100 or so quid off it still matched what a local specialist was offering for a genuine part all fitted, 2 year warranty and without any lead time (would have taken VW 1 or 2 weeks to acquire the part and fit). Personally I believe this should have been something VW should have replaced as it is defiantly a manufacturing defect not just "wear and tear". If you find they are quoting you in the similar range that I was I would not give them the cash for something that they should have fixed, they do not deserve it to be honest.

last week had my inlet manifold replaced (71000 km)...
The car came up with fault light of the exhaust, hooked it up with my VCDS tool and found that it had the following message.
1 Fault Found:
008213 - Intake Manifold Flap Position Sensor (Bank 1)
P2015 - 000 - Implausible Signal - MIL ON
Went to my local dealer to get it solved and told them as well about a little stutter i noticed sometimes between 3-4 gear (DSG) at around 3000rpm.
Talked to the head engineer and he immediately understood that one of the manifold valves was not functioning properly.
Lot of euro's lighter but the problems seems to be solved now. So far no goodwill from VW

Hi everyone,
I've had the same fault come up too...2009 2.0TSi around 48000 miles. Had the local VW specialist take a look while it was having another job done - they cleared the fault and said keep an eye on it to see if it came back. Drove for another 350 miles and then the light returned. Now noticing a definite loss of power at times so looks like I will be ringing around for quotes for a new intake manifold
Point to note - car had a Revo Stage 1 remap last year, no issues to date. I doubt that this would have anything to do with it but thought I'd ask anyway?

Loss of power: have you checked that the arm for the vacuum "motor" that controls the flaps hasn't popped out? This will be what might result in loss of power at higher RPMs, as the inlet manifold flaps will not open.
Have you plugged into VCDS?

The garage plugged in their VCDS when it was in with them. Exact fault code was:
"008213 - Intake Manifold Flap Position Sensor (Bank 1) P2015 - 000 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent - MIL ON"
I located the flap motor arm and it felt sound i.e. not popped out. Moved it by hand a couple times, started the engine and the light has now gone out! Will see how the car performs on the drive home tonight.

Keep an eye on it - the sensor might be on the blink... There is a thread on changing the manifold, or buy your part and get an indie to fit (cost me £280 all inc)

Getting the same problem with mine. After having the clutch release bearing issue too it's really made me lose faith in the reliability of these cars. VW are trying to charge me a grand to fix this despite verbally admitting to me in their own dealership that this is not my fault nor is it wear and tear but that this is a defect part and they're very sorry about that but because the car is out of warranty they're refusing to help me out. Two defect parts which cost in excess of a grand each to fix over the space of 2 years, I'm falling out of love with my car and VW.
