New engine needed

Post by Grevic »

With 2 months remaining on my warranty I have just been informed that my 1.4 160ps Roc requires a new engine due to an intermittent mis fire, and problems with the piston and compression!
Has any one else had this problem and does anyone know how this would affect resale value, warranty etc.

Thanks Grevic

If you do a search you will see that there have been a couple of instances of replacement engines for this reason.

As the engine has been replaced by VW it should have no impact on resale value.

With regards to warranty your existing warranty will still stand, ie. 2 months inless you can negotiate otherwise with VW CS

I have went through this with VW with a R32 a few years ago.

Thanks for that, went and picked up our hire car from VW dealer and saw our Roc up on the ramp with no front on it : ( hopefully get it back soon and see how it runs, will now look into an extended warranty for it!

I made the mistake of seeing my R32 with the engine out waiting for the replacement. It's not a pleasant sight.

i would have a word with VW CS and try and get them to give you the extended warranty, they can only say no.
