I have been told by my dealer that the car will come straight to them from Portugal.

He said it takes 6-10 days to go through the factory, it is then sent straight to the port in Portugal, put on a boat, unloaded at the port in England and goes straight to them. He said it could be as little as 3 weeks between going into the factory and being ready.

Hi guy's, after reading this thread and my build date being delayed time after time, I called the dealer about the new specification for the GT model. They hadn't a clue about any of it, no surprise to me there. So I called VW Customer Service with my order number and well...

My Vinnie the Viper Green 2.0TDI GT BM 140 now comes with leather interior and the RDS315 with Sat Nav, Instead of the originally ordered RCD510 (think this is a lesser stereo but has sat nav as standard), and before this change I had already got reversing sensors added for free due to a mistake by the dealer on my order being made 4 weeks late of when I actually paid for the car.

I was supposed to get my ROC on April the 20th, now my build week is Wk20 and delivery is estimated for the 1st week in June, so 5-6 weeks late and lots of free extras, think I won a watch here, thanks to the dealer making a rip roaring **** of it.

Happy days, now to get on with the pain of waiting game to June now lol the saga continues, but I am very happy with the outcome now, more than happy actually.. ecstatic..!!

Mine has been pushed back another 3 weeks to week 26, so in the space of 10 days it has gone from week 20 to week 26, I am seriously unhappy, and Wayside have done nothing to help at all. All I get is that their hands are tied by VW and there is nothing they can do.

I have written a 3 page complaint letter to VW stating that to have ordered a car on 14th January and requested a delivery date of May 30th, and for it go from week 17 to week 18 to week 20 to week 23 to week 26 is completely unacceptable. I am now looking at delivery in August sometime, and it could still go back further (yes I know it could come forward but going on past experience I won't hold my breath!). I have requested compensation for running my current car longer than anticipated (it's due a major service inc. timing belt change), or a hire car to cover the period between the requested delivery date and the actual date.

My partner bough a car from VW on the same day as me so unless they can pull something out the bag to persuade me not to cancel my order they will lose me as a customer immediately and my partner as a customer when her PCP runs out.

Be interesting to see what they come back with, to have to wait 7 months for a VW is beyond ridiculous, if all else fails I have found a very nice Boxster S that I will just go out and buy :)

HI, I'm new and was just wondering if they have they ever told you that you had a confirmed build date? As I ordered my scirocco on April 25th, was told it would be about 8 weeks. Have had a several calls from dealer saying build week 20, having read these posts I started getting worried and rang dealer and asked him to tell me if it was a confirmed build week 20 and he said yes its confirmed. Just interested to know whether after its a confirmed build date if it ever moves?? currently hiring a car as sold mine really quickly on auto trader so don't want this to drag on.
Also interested to know, I ordered mine with sat nav and reversing sensors, been told that I now have the new spec which comes with sat nav and heated seats, was told i would get a £75 refund as difference between price of new model and me choosing sat nav. Seems unfair as if I hadn't chosen sat nav I would now of had it for free as they are locked into the price you agree when you order - anyone else had this??

Finally got my build week for Week 18 which is next week so delivery hopefully by the end of May - cannot wait!! (ordered at the end of February)

As well as VW honouring my negotiated discount of £1240 I have also got back £770 for the now standard SatNav and MF steering wheel as well as £420 off the base price so a total saving of £2430!! Good result and now waiting in anticipation!!

HI Robodoll
That's great news, what did you have do to get your sat nav money back as mine is only giving me £75 off the difference between new model price and my sat nav price - not happy if you got yours fully refunded.

Looking for some advice here. I ordered my scirocco at the end of March and was told it'd be about 18 weeks. It's now a month later and the dealer is saying that I'll benefit from the spec changes but is still waiting for the order to be confirmed by VW. Is this normal? What's the process when buying a new car in terms of order, confirmation, estimated build estate, confirmed build date? Any information on this would be appreciated.

I didn't have to do anything - the dealer emailed me to say that as the SatNav and MF steering wheel were now standard on my ordered 1.4, they would just charge me £770 less when I collected the car! Another email a week later to say that as the 1.4 price had dropped I would get that £420 back as well!

Hope this helps.

Hey guys, just to add to this thread, i ordered mine on the 19th April, been given a 'scheduled' build week of 21, pretty happy with that.

Obviously its not confirmed yet so not counting my chickens etc but was expecting a lot longer so pretty happy :)

I ordered my Rising Blue R over here in Dubai 3 weeks ago, delivery is scheduled for August!

One thing with the cars here, they seem to tick all the optional extras boxes for you at the dealers and call it Gulf Spec, yet the price is very cheap for the spec level it comes with.

Just had an email from VW saying that my car has now been confirmed build week 21, feeling very fortunate after reading some of the previous posts... Estimated delivery date is mid-end of June...

Its gonna be a long month!! Buzzing! :hyper:

Ordered mine a few weeks back and got a pretty awesome £3500 off the list for the updated GT trim TSI model. Not heard anything yet, but if I was assured a June delivery and they fail to meet it, am I likely to still get the £1000 contribution VW are offering on the Scirocco?

Wow, that was quite quick! Ordered on 8th march, official build week 16 (16-20 april), but at the end of that week the car was still in the factory. But who cares as it's finally here! Picking up tomorrow...
So practically, it took two months and a week from order to delivery!
