Thankyou Sciroccocentral,
When i picked mine up in December the dealer kindly! sold me a jack lead from the aux in to the ipod headphone socket.
It plays but all control is through the ipod! Spoke to dealer on monday and he is getting me the correct lead free of charge. Should be there next week!

I had to argue with the dealer to get mine, luckily I went armed with info from here - but it was still an argument.

You would of thought VW would of sorted the system by now, or perhaps its a sneeky way of making a couple of quid more

Also had to ask and it was posted to me same day foc - almost as if they were waiting for the call.....
Suppose they might realise it's in the brochure as standard when we all mention it in the satisfaction questionnaire ?

I have just heard from my dealer (after chasing them with queries) that my car is now "shipping" :)

Now one of my queries was the infamous ipod cable, they have told me that they have ordered 1 cable! I argued that there should be 2 (USB +Ipod) but they are saying should only be 1.

Can I just confirm again that they should supply 2? And I should not be charged extra.

ps. Did anyone get mats free, they are trying to charge me £69 extra for mats which I am refusing on a £23K car!

Many thanks.

Yes you should get 2 cables.

I got the premium mats free (I hope - find out tomorrow!) and didn't even have to try asking. And the parking sensors.

you should get two the USB comes with the car and you have to ask for the IPOD lead, i paid for mats but i know some are getting them thrown in free i guess it depends on the deal you negotiated,

Contact Loders and tell them to check the bulletin on the 'VW desktop communication suite' that they would have received Aug 14th 2008 (ref. no. 0510-08).

This explains about the two leads and proves they are meant to be supplied free of charge!

Many thanks indeed guys, I knew it was 2 leads but just wanted to be sure of my facts!

They are in agreement now that the iPod lead needs ordering seperately.

Yes with the mats, I had cheekily said that I would expect them on a £23K car, but some of these dealers are getting tired of people pushing them for freebies and using the 'economic climate' as an excuse for pushing them on everything!

I am getting mats of some description thrown in now but I guess they will be VW generic ones. Its worth a try but it was clear to me that they were not that happy :-|

The premium ones have scirocco written on them I think.

You're right though, they are getting a bit tight in this climate. I can't even squeeze them to a tank of fuel even after numerous attempts. Although if the ipod issue comes up and he wants me to pay for the cable I'm going to bet him a tank of fuel I don't :D

Thanks chaps,

yes - perhaps I should be grateful that I am getting any mats at all. I think they giving me £15 worth of fuel which is what just under 4 gallons

Good luck again Kev, I am sure you can't wait!

Even official VW pricelist for UK says it comes with MEDIA-IN and 2 cables: ipod and mini USB so you can smash that in a dealer's face as a proof too.
