leather heated?

Post by runmcleod »

Does anyone know if all leather seats come with heated elements inside them or do some not have them?

If you're thinking of replacing current seats with leather, you might find that the wiring loom to the seats doesn't have all the connectors required for the heating.
Mick over on scirocconet was looking at this and whilst the wiring loom looked to be the same, they were missing - so you'd need to look at running extra wiring to them too.

Thanks for the heads up but I'm not 100% sure what you mean? I thought it would just be a straight swap as my car is wired up for heated seats. Are you saying that wiring within the leather seats may differ to those in a cloth interior?

The heating elements in leather seats are more powerful, but the wiring should be the same.
The heat is controlled by a potentiometer, so it should work fine with either type heating elements.

Didn't realise you had heated cloth seats - he didn't which should then mean you have the required wiring on the loom.

This was a straight swap, very easy infact! The heated leather works although the electric lumbar (I think it is that-round button with 4 directional controls) doesn't work. I'm guessing this needs to be fused and enabled with VagCom? Does anyone know?
