Rear View Camera

Hi!

I am getting my r in a couple of weeks. I have tested a setup with kufatech´s ima and ampire´s rearview camera with a RNS 510. It works perfectly when I connect all the bits and pieces on my desk. I chose this solution because I wanted a dvb-t installed too (Ampire´s mpeg4 HD version) and the only solution according to kufatech was to use an ntsc camera setup. Everything looks nice, only negative part is that it seems that the yellow guidelines on the rns screen are not present. I am guessing that this is the downside for not choosing the oem camera, but again....then I could´nt have the dvb-t unit ;-)

Just a thought for you if you want BOTH a camera and a dvb-t.

...also the ampire camera only needs a 5 mm hole in the bumper instead of the big-hole-with-a-saw-procedure.

SO, now I just need the car and the many hours to physically fit it.

Ampire.de
dvb-t unit DVBK55-HD (they just released a new version on their website)

Kufatech.de
Ima-multimedia adapter plus : item 35538
Adapter - aditional video integration : item 35570
Wiring for ima VW/RNS510 : item 35658
Control line (for controlling the dvb-t on screen - didnt get it to work yet, since I will rather use the supplied IR remote) item: 38775

It didn´t need an elektronics specialist to assemble, the instructions in english are straight forward..

Interested to see if anyone has purchased the RVC kit from Car Systems in Prague?

It's almost half the price of the Kufatec kit....
Maybe you only get half the quality

I have purchased it...I am yet to find the time to fit it but the camera and bracket are genuine VW and as far as I can tell all the wiring etc looks to be first rate.
The only issue is there are no instructions with the kit... which is why I have been trying to source a Kufatec install manual in english...

Presume you have seen the how to in the roccopaedia? Not a manual but a step by step guide. Might do the trick?

Yes Ive had a look at that - it's the wiring that I'm not sure about.
Colour coding changes somewhere in the loom.
I'm assuming the long yellow lead at the head unit is the fused power?
That becomes red at the camera end?
The other two at the camera end are reverse and earth?

Color coding is not change anywhere.

From the camera to the loom you must have the same color codings. There are 3 wires (RED, BLACK & YELLOW) and one video cable.

1. The RED cable must be pulled to the fuse box & connected at a free +12V position with a separate fuse (5A).
2. The BLACK cable must be connected to a suitable ground point.
3. The YELLOW cable must be connected to BCM connector , outlet C (is the brown connector) to pin 28 (Blue/black wiring color). From this one, loom gets the reverse signal. (In order to be sure that you have found the correct point, you can check that in this cable you must have +12V only when you select reverse).

All good GiannisA.
The only difference with the Car-Systems supplied kit is that the yellow cable is only available at the camera end of the loom.
I will just connect to reversing globe.

I agree.

You can connect it in any place that provides you the reverse signal, either to the reverse globe line or you can add an extra wire on the loom and connect it to the BCM.

My cars coming up on 3 year old and I have decided to keep it. I really want the reverse camera, but sadly my old RCD510 doesnt have the rvc input. So, to fit this I would probably upgrade to an RNS510 and do it that way. I have been looking at carsystems for the RNS510 and am wondering will the version F with 4020 software and map version 7692 work fine with my age of car and I would assume that the camera kit they sell will work with this too. Anyone give me a definite yes to this?

Yes, the RNS510 v.F will work on all Roc's.
Yes, the camera kit will work, if it is a RETROFIT kit made for a Roc & RNS510.

Right, I have the RNS 510 installed and coded to work with my steering wheel etc, next step is to get the camera wiring in. I have worked out what I need and how to pick up the power from the fuse box, but not 100% yet as to where the best earth point is and also the best way to connect to pin 28 on the BCM, do you just find the blue/black wire and scotchlock on to it, or can you connect to it more neatly? Any advice from you experts would be great! Loving the RNS510 compared to my rcd510!

Could You post a picture of the part it self.
It is interesting to know if it is for retrofitting, or a spare part only for factory installed camera.
