New Scirocco owner

Post by phild »

Just bought my first ever VW. Now, I've owned many cars over the years most being sports cars. These have included Audi TT, Ford Puma, MGF, Toyota MR2, new shape Mazda MX5, Chrysler Crossfire and the one I've just traded in the Citroen Dsport DS3. This last car was only i year old but it just wasn't me. There latest TV ads are trying to make out its a fun car to own but the only thing it really has going for it is the DRL LEDS. OK it wasn't a bad car but that sit up and beg driving position reminded me of driving the old Vauxhall Astra I once owned.
I'm still getting to know the Scirocco but even at this early stage im beginning to think its probably the finest car I have ever driven - long may it last!!

Just to add - The VW dealer wouldn't go higher than £11,250 for the DS3. I paid nearly £18.000 new 1 year ago. Many were saying that DS3 residuals would definitely be better than any other Citroen model. But not so. I should really have got near £12,500 considering the low mileage and nearly new condition but the dealer wouldn't go higher than offered. But just seeing the scirocco sitting outside the showroom made me relent easier than I thought I would.
With an approved used dealer they 'threw' in several options to choose from. I settled for one years free roadside assistance but I originally asked for the £100 worth of 'extras' But all they could offer me on this was an autoglym cleaning kit for £299 instead of £399 or he could find me a few t-shirts! Frankly he didn't have a clue as to what extras were available and neither did I.
Still I'm pleased with the purchase even though I feel I was short changed on the Citroen.

You will always lose out if u sell a new car just 1 year after buying it. And Citroen are never known for their good residuals are they? With the DS3 being a new model also 2nd prices are a bit of an unknown.
