Boosting

Post by ozr »

Heya folks
new to the board
Guess that makes me a newb huh..
Went in to buy my wife a new Passat wagon, which we did in white and I drove out with a R the following week
$60k here in Australia as top of the line which I thought was pretty good buying.
My questions are ;
Has anyone fitted a boost guage to their cars (BTW what boost are we running)
and
What is the feeling in regard to boosting this rig a bit higher.
I see B&B & APR but from the guys that have done so can you bring me up to speed.
I have the 2.0L TSI which they quote at 188kw (250hp) and 350 NM

Welcome ozr
Just a quick one, I think you might be looking at the wrong figures I think you've been looking at the figures for the 2.0TSi by which they mean the GT model (210ps standard), not the R which is 265 standard.
If that is all they are quoting they may not have any software for that engine so worth checking again they have the right product. In the UK tuners Revo for example are quoting approximately 300ps after remapping on the scirocco r

Hi Trix,

You're right mostly with respect to the R output. R models here are slightly detuned to those in the UK. 250bhp/188kw here vs 265bhp/195kw in the UK and Europe. Reason given by VW is operating temperature. The golf r is similiarly de-tuned.

Ozr - if you visited an oz forum - like vw watercooled you will see that the local tuners APR, Revo, Ziezu are quoting around 300bhp with a stage 1 tune. So if you are looking to get the engine output up there seems to be a bit of capability

Stock boost on R is around 1.2 bar (17.4 psi) on the 265ps engine.

Remapped it can be anything between 1.6-1.8 bar boost depending on which remap u go for

Ozr,

Sorry poor typing on my last post. One of the local tuners is known as Viezu, not Ziezu. Not recommending anyone just these are the names that have come up so far on this subject.
