Saw it in a golf r and it looks perfect. The picture dont do it any justice but i think that is one nice mod. I heared they'll be introducing it to the 2.0tsi's as well not sure tho.

UK Brochure 01.02.11 shows it as standard on all models with DSG.

Yes it was quite easy to do, just remove the trim around the base, then unclip the retainer at the base of the old knob, disconnect the electrics and pull the knob off, it's also a good idea to pull the trigger outwards and jam it open, put the new knob on and put electrics back in and clip it back up, one thing to note is do NOT press the trigger while it's off the car as it will get locked in the IN position and you will need to dismantle the top of the knob to sort it.

Is changing over the dsg gear knob as easy as described in roccopedia for the manual one?

yes the post is over a year old and all the newer cars come with them now
