Re: Replacing R Interior
Last question for now (I hope). Because they are from germany they are opposite for driver and passenger, i found out that there is a extra cable on the passenger side for the seat belt warning. I plugged this one in when i fitted the seat but i am thinking should i have left it out? Will it show the seatbelt light when i dont have a passenger? i.e. will it by default think that there isn't a seat belt being worn by anyone (as it should rightfully be the drivers seat)

Hi Shaun,
2,700€ delivered from ebay germany. It was actually from a guy that was mentioned on the 'Recaro's yay or nay' thread. Motorsport2000. Good trader easy to deal with.

Re: Replacing R Interior
Can VCDS clear the fault codes with the new seats or will they just keep returning, as i was just reading on another forum that i may need to purchase a Recaro airbag resistor kit?
Thanks, Adam
Thanks, Adam

Re: Replacing R Interior
Yes, VCDS can clear them but as long as the airbag circuit is not connected, the fault codes will return, so you need the resistor kit to simulate the system's airbags are connected.

Thanks, much appreciated. I have somewhere local to buy the resistor(s) from. I am assuming that the esp fault is just a knock on effect from the other fault(s)?

Re: Replacing R Interior
Hi,
Bought a pair of these today (airbag resistors) but i think that the fittings do not match the ones in my car (typical!) Has anyone in rocco world fitted them? If so do you have any advice/instructions on how to fit? Do you just basically shove the black cable into 2 of the receptacles on the car fitting?
Any help is most appreciated! The Recaro's are fantastic but are a real effort...

Re: Replacing R Interior
Got them from a place near me they are sold on t'internet as 'Recaro Airbag Resistors'. They have quite possibly the worst instructions ever and neither of the yellow plugs fit a scirocco. I just stuck the black cable into the socket in the car (under the seat) connecting them to the black and green passenger side and black and blue drivers side (I think the 3rd cable is earth (brown)). Then taped em up.
I think that the kits are on ebay for £35!!! (I managed to pay less going direct) I have since learnt that you could quite easily get a 4.7ohms 0.5 resistor for about £1 then bend it and stick both ends in like i did with the black cable... RIP OFF
Took it to a VW specialist this morning and they cleared the fault using VCDS and all sorted! Didn't charge me which was kind (free plug for The Lion Garage Leicester)
I finally have a set of Recaro 'R' seats that i am happy with...
Thanks for everyones help, much appreciated... Does anyone know how to remove the rear seats

Re: Replacing R Interior
Glad you got it all sorted out! Give Durrocco (Mick) a pm, he replaced his seats in his old car with leather, I'd assume they would be the same to change as yours. What you doing with your old interior?

Re: Replacing R Interior
Hi Rob,
Thanks for the heads up but i have not been on here long enough to be allowed to PM yet! I think that i am going to keep my original R seats so that if i come to sell or px i can keep the recaro's for future use and put it back to stock. Unless of course i have an offer i cant refuse
I have managed to get the bolts out from the middle rear and middle front (under seat belt clasps) but i think that i have got to take off the side panels inside the car to get to other bolts (looking at the replacement seat). Does anyone know if this is right?
Cheers
Adam

You need to remove the side panels, or saw the seat in two...adbrad999 wrote:I have managed to get the bolts out from the middle rear and middle front (under seat belt clasps) but i think that i have got to take off the side panels inside the car to get to other bolts (looking at the replacement seat). Any ideas on how to remove the side panels as the saw in half option is not one I would like to investigate!

I seem to remember that the side panels are all interlocked. You start at the rear right corner in the boot, and take each off. But VW wouldn't put rear seats into the car like that during production. Side panels on first, then seat backs, then seat squabs. So its the reverse. Bottom seat section (squab) out first. Then the upright rears.

Re: Replacing R Interior
Hi,
I searched the forum including the link above but they don't mention taking side panels off. It states that you can take seats off the 'bar' but on my replacement back the bar is attached to both.
If I have to remove the side panels then I am assuming by your instructions that I remove the rear quarter in the boot first then move forward until I take if the side section that covers the speaker. Duplicating for the other side.
I was hoping that this would be easier than the front seats... Silly me
Cheers
