Hi all, i am looking at getting a Rocco tdi as my current car is too juicy for the amount of miles i do. Would like to know what people with the tdi are getting mpg wise, and amount of miles per tank. Any other comments on the car or engine would be a great help, like how is the performance and ride comfort etc and even things to look out when buying and throughout ownership.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome Aaz,
You don't state whether you are aiming at a 140PS or 170PS diesel.
Have a look round, there are topics running on the subject of mpg....

I dont really mind which one tbh, my current car has 180 so the 170 would be closer. But i would still get a 140.
Thanks for the links and i'll do some searching

Re: Looking at getting a Rocco TDI
Ive got the 170 and the ride and performance is spot on! Getting around 55mpg, thats with a 70 mile commute mainly on A roads and the usual school run/shopping trips etc. test drive the 2 but youll have a bigger smile on your face when you hear the engine note of the 170! Ive got a DTUK tuning box on mine and if stop having such a heavy right foot I can get nearer 60mpg, its just more tempting to put your foot down now as it not half shifts!

Aaz: If you were always thinking of a GT, then get the 170 if you can, it's about £700 more, but you'll retain 1/2 of that outlay over 3 years of ownership, and it's a lot less hassle with the insurance than remapping a 140 later. I've had both (bought the 140 just before the 170 was announced), and the 170 is more than a little better. Mine only costs £20 a year more than my 140 did, and the fuel economy between the 2 is 5% for me.
The 170 sounds a lot better than the 140 under load too - my Dad described it as "growly" when comparing it to my mam's 140TDI Golf.
Depending on your driving style, you should get 48mpg around the doors on shorter journeys of around 10 miles on mixed roads in the 140 and 50/51mpg in the 140. On motorway journeys of a reasonable distances there is almost nothing between them - getting you up to 60mpg on a hot summer's day if you're maintaining 75/80mph indicated.

Cheers for the replys, im thinking the 170 seems the best option then. Thats such an improvement to what i am getting at the momet, i get 32mpg driving carefully on a 12 mile trip, and about 37mpg on a 40 mile trip.. And the fact i am doing about 300 miles a week i think i diesel seems to be the way to go.
