Another Rocco stolen

Post by veeedubba »

Mate has had his 170 diesel stolen from his drive white reg YT60 JXL police say house door locks were snapped/bumped to gain access to house. So eyes open as it hasn't been seen since that night.

Cheers

Gutted, are there any other additions/modifications or imperfections that could help identify it?

Feel sorry for your mate. Hate it when this happens to people. Just read two other similar posts one a R32 and the other a MkV GTI.
The owner of the R32 has put the missing cars details on ebay,

Happened near my daughters house outside Leeds but thieves did not get away with the car as keys taken to bed each night by her neighbour!! Seem to be targetting specific cars - possibly to order? Spent the best part of a day fitting a house alarm for my daughter which rings the phone if it goes off.

ive just changed my euro locks on both double glazed doors for high security locks and takes about a minute per lock and its so easy you wont believe it. All normal euro locks can be snapped/bumped in seconds rendering the high security bolts useless. Cost 39 quid per lock.

I pulled off the drive last night I was stopped by the Police 250yds from home, he asked the usual, where are you going, where have you come from, is the car registered in your name etc, then proceeded to tell me to garage the car if possible due to a spate of 3 Sciroccos stolen to order in my area over the last few weeks. Be extra careful out there.

Hinckley area trageted

Post by croccy roccy »

Just had mine stolen off my drive way in Hinckley on Friday evening at 7pm. They came in the house through my back door and helped themselves to my keys. Have since found out that one was also stolen in Nuneaton on the same night and one earlier in the week. Also 2 other's targted in the same area in the same week, but the thieves were unsuccessful.

look after yours and keep you houses secure if you are in this area

:faint: would they just be targeting the high end models useing the reg number or is it all sciroccos i wonder. not that its any less upsetting for any one to have any car stolen. and all the hassel that goes with it.
really feel sorry for all that lose their cars in this way. as for the low life that carry out these acts only disgust.

Am i correct in saying that the keys are needed to steal a rocco (apart from a spectacle lift) ?

Is it possible to 'lock' the stick in 'P' on a DSG box ? I have been considering the good old fashioned steering lock that hooks around the pedal and steering wheel, thus preventing the pedal from being depressed to engage a gear ?
I appreciate they could smash the lock off, but at least it slows the thief down.

Any other thoughts on prevention ?

Those wheel to pedal devices are junk, i dont know of a good one, the other main issue with steering type locks is you need to keep the keys away from the actual car keys or they just get both keys in one, if you really want a steering lock then a Disklok used to be a good device.

It is not wise to be too clever as they will take you to the car. Did this in Manchester with a friends neighbour with a knife at his throat until he released the R32 some time back when they were in demand.

I notice that Skoda have as part of their optional security accessories for both Octavia and Yeti models, Mechanical Drive Locking Systems that appear to be gearbox locks available for both Manual and DSG transmissions - P/Nos accordingly: DVC 630 001,DVC 600 003, and DVC 630 002. As I believe the Roc shares similar gearboxes with Skoda, does anyone know whether such similar gearbox locks are available for Roccos? For the Skoda Superb, I note there is available a Safetronic electromechanical drive locking system; manual transmission (3T1 071 775); automatic transmission (3T1 071 775A).
