2.0l TSI things to watch for
2.0l TSI things to watch for
I am going to look at one of the above at the weekend.
Is there anything i should be looking out for on them.
Any helpful advice would be much appreciated.

Not all readers are writers!
Anyhoo, I'm in a similar position and looking to change to a scirocco. My advise to you would be to read up on old posts and get a feel for the little things that do go wrong. That will also give you an idea of spec's and model year changes. In my limited experience the scirocco would seem to be a car with few if any typical faults. Maybe the dsg gearbox mechatronic unit in high miles?

Nothing really. Check cambelt change if its a TFSI engine and look at servicing record but thats about it. Ive run a Mk5 Golf Gti and now a Rocco TFSI and never heard of any real major issues with these engines. Ask how much oil it uses, the way the owner will answer will tell you how much they check it.

2.0 TSI does NOT have a cam belt, it is chain driven. No need to worry bout this

Thanks for the feedback, it is good news and as i hoped it would be.
The car has 15k miles which appears to be really good. Looking forward to it.

Yes - I have had my Scirocco coming up for 3 years now, so it is one of the early models with the red MFD display! I have been very pleased overall and not aware of any particular issues. I did however have a small waterleak which was fixed under warranty (new pump put in), but this was an exeception and is not a weakness.

Ive had mine for nearly 3 years and 23k miles and touch wood not a thing has gone wrong, the TSI engine is a peach! Go for it mate, ive had renaultsports, golfs, fords etc and this is by far the best car ive had the pleasure to own!
Re: 2.0l TSI things to watch for
My car is a 2009 just in today for it's first MOT, I have done 19k and had no running issues day to day. Only one instance where a part failed was an injector going - this was fixed under warranty and after talking with both forum members and the service centre it is a very rare occurrence. If you get the tsi I will say that as quick as they are - they feel that little bit more complete with a bluefin remap - more torque lower really makes a difference.

Hi Had my 2.0 TSi for almost 3 years, 20,000 miles, worst problem was a sqeaky armrest. Oil consumption v. low- a great car, just getting a bit too popular now
