Hi,
New member here. Just swapped to a Scirocco after having an Edition 30 GTI from new. Going from Reflex silver to Viper green was a bit of a shock! The car itself is just one year old (Decided to let someone else take the first hit of depreciation this time). First impressions are good so far. The ride is so much better even on the 19" Lugano's than on 18" on the Edition 30.
A couple of questions
I have an intermittent rattle from the rear passenger side. Done a search on here and a couple of people have mentioned it, but no one has posted a cure..Its not the spare or the tool kit and its definitely not the hatch as the sound is coming from underneath the car.
The other question, I have is that the headlamps seem to have more "small" chips on them than I would have expected of a car of its age or mileage. They are not large and when I picked up the car they weren't noticeable. It was only when I drove the car last night that I noticed little dots on the headlight lens.
They are noticble when you look at the headlights when they are on. I looks like you have a got a little bit of road grime/dust on them.
Are the Scirocco headlights more susceptible to picking up chips?? All I can imagine is the previous driver driving behind a gitter!!
Anyone else have this problem? If so have you had a go at wet sanding to rectify the problem?
Cheers Tagnut.

Welcome, i swapped from an Edition 30 too, i recognise your name from the MK5 forum, are you sure the rattle isnt the bump stops on the boot lid as it might sound as its coming from elsewhere but it was the bump stop in my case, as for the headlights i am not sure as mine are fine, Meguiars do a kit but not sure it will be any good on deeper chips.

Hi Shaun, (182_blue),
Yup, one and the same. You sorted the Edition 30 plaques out if I remember rightly.
Been reading your build thread on here, very nice
Will give the bump stops a go, cheers.
Looking at the the memory on the RNS the previous keeper was in Scotland, too much gritting has left the marks
The chips aren't deep, its just that there is number of them. Other alternative is to find out how much new headlamps are!

Re: Headlight chips - Rear rattle.
Thanks for that Shaun. My headlights are nowhere near that bad. The Edition 30 headlights were in much better condition even after 4 years. I had had a look on the web and found a few threads. I don't have a polisher or the balls to do it on a new car!!! There is a car re finishers in the next village I couls always have a word with them.
Cheers.
