Re: 1.4 Petrol and 2.0 Diesel now on UK website
Sad I know, but I check it most days in case VW sneak in new options, my status is still scheduled so in theory I could make additions.
One of the differences I thought was that only the GT came with the chrome exhaust, however from the spec of the 1.4, thats also standard.
The only diff I can see from a Sirocco 2.0 Diesel and the GT 2.0 Diesel is in the PS.

looks like a lot of option ticking on the non-gt model, diesel is only the 140ps and alas not the 170ps, i am sure the options ticking will mean a gt diesel will be cheaper than a specced non-gt, i know i prefer my manual petrols but dsg on the diesel would be a box ticked, you have a lot of cog swapping with that engine when acelerating, the 200ps petrol is a peach and converted me back from diesel, whsilt it drinks more so much more characterful, the tdi is also smokey so beware of white as you will have soot marks

hantsman i am sure you will get lower figures once it is run in and you stop driving it like a tt driver, i love the tfsi but tend to get 33 out of mine as per the norm mainly due to mix of driving (hates urban driving) and it is great to thrash, the performance in 3rd and 4th is excellant i tend to drop from 6th to 5th on motorways to overcome the torque of diesel opposition, its still more economical than my mk3 gti (112bhp) which managed about 31, for real world rather than track driving the engine is a peach, i know they say the scirocco is no track car but would be intersting how it comes on the 'ring'

Re: 1.4 Petrol and 2.0 Diesel now on UK website
Must say im surprised at how poor my mpg is. I borrowed my local dealer's manual car for 2 days and averaged 35-36mpg quite easily on my normal commute (lots of motorway). As they claim the dsg is more frugal, im amazed that i can only muster 30 mpg at best. I've now done 1200 miles, have you guys found much improvement with miles?
I now have a 170bhp dsg diesel on order, my dealer reckons they will be able to order from jan, for a spring delivery, anyone heard otherwise?
Little visit to dealer this week as boot release mechanism was taking a couple of goes to release, and no AM radio reception...both sorted straight away without issue. Apparently the radio reception thing is known about abd there is a mod for it now!
