What are the performance stats and power increases with being Revo'd, as I'm tossing up between REVO and Tuning Box.

I'd be interested to hear your impressions of the 170 DSG before and after REVO do their thing on it.

There doesn't seem to be much information about longevity or otherwise of the DSG clutches after a software upgrade. The 170 makes exactly the same Torque as the R as this is the Torque limit of the gearbox. What happens to the gearbox when this figure is exceeded? Guessing replacing the clutches is expensive. If it's only slightly increased wear I could live with that but if the clutches go up in smoke at the first traffic light GP that's not cool.

I just got my 170 and have just browsed about the Internet a bit as I was/am considering going the REVO route as well. I'm sure any tuning company could advise but I haven't contacted any as yet.

Any chance you can do some timed acceleration runs before and after?

Apologies for the delay in responding - haven't had much spare time lately.

Have decided against the re-map, for now anyway.

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about the 'torque limit of the gearbox' - Revo work closely with VW to develop performance software and I wouldn't have thought that they would risk that relationship, or their reputation, by promoting a programme that would cause damage.

Can I ask what your opinion was on the remap from Revo, looks as if you have the exact same specced car as me and they're doing a good deal just now. Was it worth doing, what was fuel economy like after?

Absolutely worth doing! Increased pull, all through the range, was noticeable. Also saw an improvement in MPG......depending on how much fun you were having!

Only drawback was the need to crack open the ECU.

Now changed to a 170 but tbh the Revo'd 140 was more fun - unless I shift to sport! Am intending to have the 170 Revo'd when its loosened up a bit.

Go for it & you won't regret it. As you say, good offer on too at the moment.
