Hey guys,
My car is 2 year old with 30000 miles on it.
Lately i hear a noise when i put my foot on the pedal. It starts as soon as the pedal senses my foot.
I release pedal and it goes away immediately. The sound speeds up when the car is accelerating.
It also sounds when the car is on high rev on idle in the morning that heats up.
Please help me....when i took it to the service they said they couldnt hear it. And indeed it was gone.
Either the car was afraid or they knew what it was and fixed it temporarily. I seemed crazy so next time i take it
i have to know what it is.
Thank you
Noise under the steering wheel

Get someone to check the car with you while you try pressing the pedal when it happens again next time & see if you can locate the area. Unless you've already tried this with no luck

Re: Noise under the steering wheel
The area seems to be exactly behind steering wheel in the engine part. when i get out of the car i hear the same noise exactly under the bonnet. That is of course if i put my head close. The sound seem to always be there but get stronger and enters the cabin when i get i put my foot on the pedal.

Re: Noise under the steering wheel
It may be something rattling inside the engine compartment and the noise feeds through into the cabin ? If it was, then opening the bonnet might temporarily shift the "thing rattling" and that's why Service couldn't hear it.
If it stops when you take your foot off the pedal, that might happen because the engine shifts slightly on its mounts and the weight moves "off" ?
My TDI has a harsh metallic rattle between 1100 and 1400 rpm (stationery or moving - in any gear) but if you open the bonnet and shut it again, it goes away - for a while. It turns out the bonnet stay is the cause and needed a short piece of cloth to be wrapped around it. If only they'd used a gas strut (but's that is another thread...)
I hope it is something this simple - even if it is annoying !
