Looking for my first Scirocco

Post by Mark_D »

Hi all, new to this forum.

I have recently parted with my Corrado and aiming to pick up a new (to me) Scirocco in the next few weeks. I'm going for the 200bhp 2.0 TSi GT, probably on a 58 plate with full heated leather and rear parking sensors, and hopefully a sat nav. I've got a couple lined up to look at this weekend and just wanted to know if there is anything in particular I should look out for.

Cheers in advance

Just bought something very similar. Not had any regrets! Don't be put off by scare stories with the dsg box, it's superb.

Nothing really to look out for other than std used car checks. Mechainics are std across the VAG group and are pretty much bullet proof, DSG included (it is simply that folks worry about costs IF there are DSG troubles). I suspect your post hasn't got many replies because none have regrets and there really aren't any items peculiar to the Scirocco!

Mine is a '10 plate & manual.

Pull the trigger my friend & enjoy.

Just beware that when you test drive a 2.0TSI if you here a rattling noise from the engine when accelerating between 1900-3000rpm that they nearly all do it and nothing is actually wrong. A mate of mine walked away from a lovely TSi because he thought there was a problem with it then wondered why I laughed when he told me.

We had the wastegate rattle aswell....but the VW fix has totally sorted it now....but others report it hasnt made any differance.....only other thing we have had in over 2 years is rattling/creaking boot....which is a fairly easy fix........

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm pretty set on one I've seen from a dealer so providing it's all as advertised then I should be a lot poorer by Monday :D
