I saw that comment and thought what a load of rubbish! :(

Sciroccos are highly recommended by all auto magazines and internet sources.

As they are still holding their value they must be sought after and a good product, an equivalant 3 series coupe loses soooo much value after 3 years!

Morons!!!

Holding the value? have you had a look on Autotrader at a 1 year old 8k on the clock Roc R? about 10K loss in one year. thats a third of its price.

I see a lot more scirocco's than golf and polo GTi's. I don't think it's unloved at all.

What does amaze me though is the number of Nissan Juke's. That's pig ugly but I see them everywhere!

It could be correct. We all love our cars but as we know the car market just isn`t happening and to buy a car like the Scirocco does cost. I see loads for sale and parked at my dealers and they don`t move. I know plenty of people who had to put their car at a silly price to sell it and lost loads.
Maybe its just the market that makes it look like this?

Also there is a delay just because they have never increased production massively vrs their other models. There has been a build delay from day 1 in 2008.

I see sciroccos everywhere these days, i followed 2 this morning on the A404 within a couple of minutes of leaving my house. Maybe Berkshire is a scirocco haven, i pass multiple scrioccos everyday and there never seems to be many for sale at the local VW dealership.

I hate them too. They are everywhere here in Toronto too. I think it's the BHP that attracts people to the Juke. Not a bad motor at least even though it looks like a pig's arse.

I think Scirocco sales have been pretty good in the UK and seem to increase year on year. To say its unloved is complete nonsense, it has a cult following already and no other car will ever be as good looking. I will probably hang on to mine for at least 10years as I don't really want to drive anything else.

I stumbled on this article from Auto Motor und Sport which dates back to June --> http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/news ... 69651.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Briefly translating in note form, the bullet points are:
- The Scirocco will fight off newer rivals from 2013 with more angular shaping of the front and more economical engines
- VW has been rewarded for the bold step of bringing back the Scirocco after 16 years
- Although the best annual output of 50000 in 2009 is not exactly exorbitant, VW will modernise the Scirocco in Autumn 2013
- Two main reasons, the product planners have been persuaded by increasing sales from the far east, China is already the third largest market for the Scirocco + there's a lucrative model mix because when customers choose a Scirocco then it's typically with more power and extras... more than 20% of buyers choose over 200PS and half of those splash out on an R
- The future engine selection will remain largely unchanged, but the new generation will offer a reduction of consumption of up to 15% thanks to reduced friction (I think this applies to the petrol engines)
- The makeover will only incorporate minor changes (see pics on link), a more angular front and slightly different rear lights with no change to the steel pressings (the changes to the rear lights are only affecting the plastic rear skirt as far as I can make out)
- Despite the appearance of Golf 7 in 2012, the made over Scirocco will remain based on the Golf 5 platform (as with the Golf 6, of course).

There are also some points of interest re. the 2 door 'coupe' style Seat Leon which will be the first car to appear on the Golf 7 platform.

I'm not sure how current any of the above is, because it's already a few months ago, but I thought it might be of interest to the Forum - I didn't see any references to this info, but apologies if there is already a thread.
