Re: Cars you have owned before getting a Rocco??
.. I've been a VW nut since I got my drivers license, my very frist was a Golf MK2 87' CL, and after that, I've had several, some of them featured in images;
... early 70's Golf MK1, which I started to rebuild...
... 91' Golf MK2 Fire&Ice which I rebuilt into OEM shape...
... 89' Golf Rallye, was meant to be built as a race/track car, but I sold this one just a month ago in favor of collecting money for the new Scirocco...
... my previous daily, a 91 Passat GT Syncro, lovely car, especially during winter!
... a Jetta GT I also started to rebuild...
... my first G60 Corrado, which later on donated engine and drivetrain to my Golf..
... Passat Syncro GT, my first Passat...
... Golf MK2 converted to G60 with Corrado and Golf G60 parts...
... one absolute favorite, a Golf Country Syncro, which I converted to a complete G60, with drivetrain and all...
... Corrado G60, with loads of nice parts...
... and then the two I still own;
... my Sofine, golf MK2 which I have owned for over 10 years now, and have built into several styles, have gone through 3 repaints, several style changes, 6 engine swaps including a 16VG60 build, 3 major interior swaps including Corrado and MK3... well, it's my jewel among my builds!
... my Golf Rallye, totally rebuilt into OEM!
In short, I have never owned a car newer than 91', so the Scirocco will be my very first "new" car and dayum, I'm looking forward to it!!

That rally is absolutely stunning
Golf 7R - Golf 7R - BMW M2
Re: Cars you have owned before getting a Rocco??
recent addition to the fleet is a Fiat 500 Twin Air as my cheap and sh"tty for the city, pays for itself in the fuel it saves and means the rocco can go more impractical or be replaced with something more desirable and is a real hoot to drive

Re: Cars you have owned before getting a Rocco??
This is my first post, so here goes:
Learned to drive in 69 Trimuph Herald ~ aged 13 private land of course
'63 Mk 1 Austin Mini - first car and still have most of it, Cooperised over the years
'76 1098 Morris Marina van (rust bucket) temporary driver while doing up Mini
'82 Astra Mk1 1600S seemed quick at the time but ate camshafts
'85 Sierra 1.8GL with quad headlamp kit eventually used more oil than petrol and sounded like a diesel
'87 Sierra 2.8 XR4x4 - superb car in moonstone blue kept it for 7 years and took it up to 150k miles
'96 Mondeo Ghia X 24v with factory body kit and 16" rs wheels - fully loaded and quick but not match for XR handling
'95 Mondeo Ghia 1.8
'98 Polo 1.0l
'99 Land Rover Freelander 1.8 5dr - wanted to like this car, it handled well but useless engine and transmission
'98 BMW 328i Coupe with M tech kit and twin spoke alloys - superb car
'01 Audi TT 180 Coupe mirror comp 18" rims - first brand new car - loved it - but had to go with patter of tiny feet
'51 Audi A6 2.5tdi cvt SE - luxury barge (Parents bought it off me and still have it)
'01 BMW 330D SE Touring - viper tuning box - fast and frugal - 170k miles. even 40t Dutch lorry couldn't kill it off!
'54 Jeep Cherokee 2.8CRD Limited - great fun, go anywhere but crude on road handling and narrow rear seat no good for 3 child seats
'06 Volvo XC90 D5 185 manual - great SUV - still have this one, just turning 100k and going strong
'07 Ford S-Max 1.8TDCi Zetec with leather and 18" y spoke alloys. Looked and handled great for a people carrier, reasonably quick mid range but plagued with clutch and DMF problems (3 in 37k miles!) so had to go to make way for
'09 Roc 2.0TSi DSG in candy white - loving it

No photo's at hand but here you go.....
'81 Austin Mini Metro - lovely off white colour complete with brown interior lol
'02 Peugeot 206 Look - Silver with lovely rust spots after only a few weeks and electronics that couldn't make their mind up
'52 Peugeot 206 Look - Moonstone (blue), replacement for the silver one above
'01 Fiat Bravo GT - Broom Yellow, kept this one for 3.5 years before finally chopping it in
'56 Seat Leon Stylance - Black Magic, bought from new and thoroughly enjoyed over the years, no trouble other than when it decided to spit a valve spring at 40k miles
'59 Volkswagen Scirocco - Salsa Red and fantastic so far, really pleased with the DSG box despite loathing automatic boxes previous.
Regards,
Matt.

Re: Cars you have owned before getting a Rocco??
Just came across this thread so thought i'd post
I bought my first car when I was 17, a H reg Clio 1.4RT which cost me £550. Being a young lad I couldn't wait to start modding, I bought a set of o.z. super T's off a mate and had a piper backbox put on it.
I bought the clio in the summer and it was ok for a few months but when it came to winter, I inherited a swimming pool in the back footwells and couldn't find where it was coming in from. This was just the start and it went down hill from there and found it was in the garage for something every month.
As I had recently started an apprenticeship, I now had an income so part ex'd the clio after a year of ownership for a 52plate Corsa 1.2sxi. I bought it standard and gradually modded it and it ended up like this...
I owned the Corsa for 3 and a half years through my apprenticeship and when I qualified and was taken on, my pay went up a bit so decided to look for something with a bit of poke so sold the Corsa and bought a 54plate Ibiza Cupra 1.8T. Again I bought it standard and modified it a bit, main being coilovers and a bluflame cat back...
I loved the Cupra but I owned it for just 3 years and felt the need for a change. I sometimes regretted selling it but thats how it goes. I sold it for a 56plate focus st2. Again bought it standard and lowered it and put 19" rs alloys on it...
I got bored of the st and it was expensive to run and after a year and a half of ownership I sold it and bought my current car, a 58plate 2.0tsi scirocco...

Re: Cars you have owned before getting a Rocco??
Well, my first car was a 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais back when I lived in the States...nothing special & I can't find any photos of it. Once I moved to Germany in 1995, I fell in love with BMW's and owned two e30's & an e36 before buying my Rocco. I had a 1986 320i, a 1987 325i, & a 1998 323is. I had originally planned on buying another Bimmer after but my ex-wife talked me into test driving a Scirocco and after a half hour drive, I was back in the dealership buying it!
Here's my '86 320i. I bought her from a friend cheap as she had been in a head-on collision and I had fun rebuilding the front end
Here's my '87 325i...I learned a lot about engines on this one as I blew up the original racing on the autobahn
My '98 323is...I always hated those damn wheels but the ex-wife wouldn't let me get rid of them!

Re: Cars you have owned before getting a Rocco??
My first car was a '63 mini, 1310cc big valve head, DCOE webber, the works, as a first car it was mentally quick and I promptly wrote it off 6 months after getting it on the road
I followed this with a mk2 XR2 this lasted a bit longer about 3 years but this ended up around a lamppost - t boned by an old biddy.
Brought an old Volvo 240Glt to carry bits of the deceased Ford - surprisingly good fun in a I don't give as shit about this car kind of way.
That made way for a Cavalier GSi, which I kept and tweaked over 5 years
A brief flirtation with an Astra 2.2 coupe followed which in turn made way for an 206 GTi
A year later an Accord type R, in pirates black was on the drive and my love affair for revvy four pots began.
An S2000 followed a couple of years later
Back to an Accord Type R after the S met its maker
Then back into an S2000, many euro hoons later the S was sold and the Roc was acquired.
Alongside this the mrs had a Suzuki swift sport, which was excellent, but its a younger persons car and now we have a baby friendly Altea to sit along side the DERV
