He is saying it but has no evidence to say it will where as DAR had actually tried itoferelijah wrote:Mine is 2010 dsg too.

Re: 2010 Cruise Control
Correct, the module appears to have the ability to control the cruise - why he couldn;t get it to work i don;t know.
What is also a bit of a mystery is that none of the "D" or "A" part numbers appear in ETKA, only "G" or "H"

Re: Retrofitted Cruise Control post week 45 (2010) cars only
I self retro-fitted CC to my 2010MY Rocco R. not an easy job, but none the less achievable. Part numbers are in a thread over on the Mod section.
all good, and i would be happy to do it all again.
Ps the change VW talk about is the fact that you need to remove the Ignition Lock Barrel to get the stalks off, as the lock barrel 'clips into the stalk assembly. To get the lock barrel off, you need to remove 2 shear bolts (easy to shift really)
edit, thinking about it, it was quite easy really! just the shear bolts created a head-ache, and some uncertainty, once removed it was a doddle..........
Part numbers.
Slip ring controller 5K0 953 569H ( I had an D suffix fitted, and it would not support CC, it would code, but not support the function, H went straight through, no problem)
Stalk 5K0 953 502 B 9B9
all good, and i would be happy to do it all again.

According to whom?Andy-GTI wrote:Correct, the module appears to have the ability to control the cruise -
According to Etka 7.2 (latest update run on Friday) and my attempts over the weekend, a D Suffix module does not support CC. I think that the VCDS is opening generic bytes, all of which are not supported by all modules.
Etka info
A dropped with G module replcement
D dropped with G module replaceemnt
G module info - 8T0 only - No cruise, so A and D dropped and replaced with G with no cruise.
H module info - with 8T2 - Cruise. H is the Module that does all on both Manual and DSG car.
I tried H Module, coded it as per VCDS in Steering Wheel and Engine, all good first time. i then reverted back to D module, and tried the coding, in various ways, and no joy. No icon in DIs, no icon in speedo, no joy.
Why else would VW specify differing modules, that would have the same functions? Makes no sense. Why not manufacture a one stop module if a D did it all?
Anyway over to you, mine is working on a H and i will leave it that way.

Re: 2010 Cruise Control
The modules don't usually accept coding for functions they cannot control
Ross-tech confirmed the coding for module based on the scans i sent them, for BOTH the Third stalk Cruise AND the Indicator lever cruise.
It could be something as simple as a wiring tweak to make it work - do you know?
As pointed out above, the "D" module doesn't even exist according to ETKA (with the latest 830 update)
Its great you've confirmed it can be made to work with the H module, it'd be even better if it could work without a module change.
Perhaps the 3rd stalk option would work.....

Re: 2010 Cruise Control
The D variant did exist, it has been declared obsolete, as per my pic above. Etka 832\408.Andy-GTI wrote:The modules don't usually accept coding for functions they cannot control

In fact Etka just updated to 833/408
Re: 2010 Cruise Control
I finally got round to getting the cruise fitted today, no need for the shear bolts to be removed, bit of a faff sorting the coding out at first, but it was all sorted with Vag Com 10.6.2.
I like the way the cruise speed is shown on the MFD, most useful.

Mike, what part num did you use?

Re: 2010 Cruise Control
If you didn't remove any shear bolts, yours must be different again.
On my MY10 R the lock barrel clips in to the stalk assembly, and the stalks effectively wrap around it and to get the stalk assembly off the column I had to remove the bolts securing the barrel to the column and remove stalks and barrel as an assembly and then unclip the barrel from the stalks and carry on.
Pritt stick is representative of the lock barrel, and you can see the bolts position in the final pic.
I might be missing something, but could not see any other way, other than hacking the stalk assembly to bits.
I also agree the display is most useful.

How old is yours ?, and did you have to buy the new full unit like DAR ?, we need more info than just 'no need for the shear bolts to be removed' LOL
Re: 2010 Cruise Control
The car is a March 2010 vehicle. I bought the H verson of the S/W ecu to replace the A version on the car and the new stalk assembly. The stalk unclips from the S/W after the old ecu has been removed. The VW master tech who helped me said the shear bolts were only used where security items were retained e.g. ecu and never where a replaceable item could be removed i.e. steering wheel stalks.
I also spent 5 minutes adding the Tyre Pressure monitoring function via Vag Com.

Re: 2010 Cruise Control
I have a 2010 with DSG, and factory fitted (and working) CC. I could look at my module, if you tell me where it is and what it looks like If that would help anything at all....
