Side window sun shades

Post by vdubpotter »

Hi,

Had my Scirocco in July, a new viper green 1.4 TSI. I looked into having the back window and rear side windows tinted. I have taken it to a really good local place for him to do ( he does cars for main dealers). Having not done one before the bloke voiced a few concerns initially about tinting the rear quarter windows due to the close fitting of the interior trim and said it would obviously make it more expensive to strip the trim and poss back seat out. Any way, I picked it up this morning and he has only done the back window which looks tops. The bloke said that there just wasn't enough room to do it unless a fair bit of interior came out. Which brings me onto the window blinds. I don't seem to be able to find any after market ones for the scirocco so was wondering if anyone had bought the genuine vw ones for the side windows and what was the fit like.

Cheers

Cheers. Don't think they do them for a scirocco. Decided to strip the trim out myself and take the car back to have the side glass tinted by the same bloke

Thanks again

Just in addition to the above when taking the rear trim off etc, are there any hidden screws or will the trim panels come off with a firm pull. Ive had a quick look and it seems that the parcel shelf supports are the first bits that need to come off. Removing one piece allows another to come off. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

just a word of warning to motability lease drivers on this . motability do not allow after sale tinted rear windows on the scirocco. they do not give a reason should you ask. perhaps its the cost of removing when the car is handed back. should you go ahead and fit them any way the insurance will be void. trust me i know from inquiring from their help line.
