DAB stereo?

Post by Sam Greir »

Hi all,

New to the forum, but already found out a great deal of info my sales rep did'nt have/know.

Ordered my 'roc now and picking it up 1st March (on a 09 plate). I went for the GT 2.0 TSI in Viper Green - the subject of much discussion with family and friends, but i love the colour so i don't care!

Was wondering if anyone has got the DAB upgrade? Just wanted to know (sales rep did not give a proper answer!) if the DAB extra is just a standard RCD 510 that recieves DAB radio stations?

Many thanks for any replies.

Essentially yes but the they have a specific model for the DAB, it has a button on the right that says DAB and a button on the left that says RADIO, so should you be in an area where DAB signal isn't available you can switch over to the analogue signal, other than that they both have a built in SDHC card reader as well as a 6CD changer that supports MP3 CD's.

I have it on mine, the sound quality is in a different league to standard FM radio. There are so many stations available also. I would pay the small premium for it.

i have DAB, yes quality is better than FM but you lose the TIM function which records rds traffic news twice a day, personally i'd rather have the TIM function and ditch the DAB

Your fairly local to me, where is your car coming from? Colbournes?

I didn't know that about the traffic reports, doesn't affect me anyway though.

I have only seen one rocco near us last October or so and that was white. Will keep a look out  Saw a viper green on the back of a transporter on the M4 last week and with the sun shining directly on it the colour was gorgeous.

you can set it to record 2 mins worth of RDS news(even when the car is switched off) by setting the times you would like to record, get in the car in the morning, start it up and press the TIM button and it will replay the recorded travel news (instead of having to wait for the next bulletin), simple thing i know but miss it
