Post by stephen_belfast »

Hi guys,

I have tried searching the net and several forums but have no found a particular reference to the Scirocco R.

Can some please give me an idea of what oil I should be using.

Thanks.

Just the same oil that's used on other VW performance cars

Castrol Edge 5W-30 Fully Synthetic or equivalent oil that meets VW 504.00 / 507.00.

You can get it in halfords or you're local supermarket for circa £16 per litre

£16/ltr is way toooo expensive. I pay less than £10/ltr for 507 sec oil.
A lot closer to Aberdeen than you think!!

Of course you can get it cheaper but it was just an indication. You can get halfords own brand oil that meets 504.00 / 507.00 for less than £10 / ltr

Inchape signed up a deal with Shell for their dealers a while back. I managed to get it at £8 /ltr incl. VAT at Christmas so I could do intermediate oil/filter changes. Shell Helix Ultra AV-L 5W30 504/507 spec.

Main thing is to use the right oil from a reputable brand, does it really matter if its £8 here, £10 there? Trivial.
