Rear brake size - R vs non-R

Post by supra253 »

Hey,

I got the 2 litre 211bhp ROC. I know the front brakes are bigger on the R, but I can't find info on the sizes of the rear brakes. ETKA doesn't give up the size for the rear brakes on either model.
Does anybody know if the normal 2L and the R have same or different sized rear discs?

Yes the rear brakes are different

The R has 310mm vented discs.

GT will have from memory 286mm solid discs.

Thanks. Maybe I'll uprate my rears too. Currently contemplating changing fronts to either 8-piston TT RS or stock Scirocco R. Not 100% sure the RS is a bolt on fit, but I think they are as they go straight onto a Golf MK VI.

TTRS is 4 pot, and will bolt straight on but you may need spacers.

however the stock TTRS wheels are ET52, and the Roc's are ET41...so I think they should clear the calipers imo.

I'm debtaing this upgrade myself but if you want to do it then let me know how you get on!

I'm running 19x9" ET33 so spacers won't be necessary ;)

I'll be calling a fellow VW head in a few minutes as I think he has this kit unused:

The plan is to try it on my car. I can't mount a kit that changes the tracking width in any way, as ET 33 is pushing it already

I'll find out soon enough. Got one side now for test. Would have tested already if I hadn't misplaced my lockbolt adapter...

Buying another one tomorrow so that I can see how this works out.

R setup for rear ordered :D

Testet TT RS discs with RS4 calipers today. unfortunately I could not get my Savannah's mounted. The spokes hit the caliper... :grumpy:

ET33 wheels and the spokes still hit the caliper! Damn

But the 8 pot RS4 caliper is bigger than the 4 pot TTRS caliper tho. U got one of those to try??

Just done a quick measure and my stock gt rears are approx 256mm and smaller than the GTI set up now on
