We have a lease car, and unfortunately we got a unreparable puncture.
We have just been to kwikfit, because they have the contract.
initially we had pirelli P7's fitted when new, now we have three P7's and a continental.
While we accept that all they had in stock and we needed it changed today. We now have rumbling noise coming from the back, and the tyre warning light has come up on the dash.

Re: odd tyres
Tyre warning will be on cos you didn't press the button to reset it and get the chime in the dash when done. Maybe check the pressure setting.
Being a different make, the tyre diameter may be different which is what the TPMS has detected. Diameters of tyres vary a fair bit between brands for the same fitment size. As the TPMS uses the wheel rpm in its checks, it will have seen a variance and flashed up the warning symbol in the dash dial.
Also, some tyres are noisier than others - rumble.
I'm never one for mixing tyre brands/type name on an axle. Would definitely not put two different tyres on the front axle.

Re: odd tyres
fanx about the re-set button, realised that as soon as i typed it, d'oh. Although now we've discovered that we now have different speed rated tyres on the same axle. i will be calling the lease company in the morning.
Thanks for the tip about TPMS, there is a definite rumble, especially at speed.
PS so we dont sound thick, what does TPMS stand for? is it tyre pressure monitoring system?
as for the same axle the clowns at the well known tyre fitters seemed to think that was fine on the front axle, and were not impressed when we insisted it was moved to the back axle

Re: odd tyres
Was doing a search on mixing tyres types/brands and this came up - hope you dont mind me bumping it, as my question is along the same line and don't want to create another "2 replies only" thread.
My front 2 tyres are now worn down to the wear markers and I am looking to replace them. My back tyres are still fine and should have about 4 mm left on them; so due to how expensive the tyres are, I am going to change the two front ones first.
I have gone for the Pirelli P zeros to buy for the 2 front tyres, and I intend to leave the continental sport contact 5s installed on the back.
Both tyres have the same speed rating (Y), probably a bit different in consumption and noise rating...
Is this ok? .i.e. have two different brand sets? Two Pirellis up front, and two continentals at the back?
I suspect it's alright, but just wanted to get opinions from the forum.
I will probably change the back ones in a couple of months when I am ready to pay another 170£ a pop.
Thanks

Re: odd tyres
Ade - if they are on different axles (I mean same type of tyre on each axle) and you have the same speed rating for all four they will be fine - just will look a bit odd until you change the back ones for the same brand!

Re: odd tyres
Thanks Steve
, I thought that would be the case.
I will make sure they don't swap anything round.
