Chrome Tailpipes...

Post by mozz »

Hi all.

I have a 2.0TDI GT 140 Bluemotion Scirocco in Candy White. I didn't have alot of choice in the way of optional extra's etc (co car)...

Mine doesn't have rear parking sensors (doesn't really bother me) nor the chrome tail pipes.

Has anyone bought them from VW and fitted them on? any recommendations? I've seen the ones on ebay for £30 which look OK, but the ends aren't rolled over like the standard ones if that makes any sense!?

I think the VW ones are £88.

Any advice greatfully appreciated.

Regards,

Mozz

EDIT - Sorry I have just realised I have posted this in the 'News' section....Can a mod move it plz?

Take a look in my thread. I have OEM VW tail pipes which were fitted by the dealer before delivery.

I have ones intended for Skoda Yeti (part 5L0 071 910), they should fit the 2.0TDI 140 as well. Easy to install and cost me 39 euros instead of 165.

My bro has these on his golf GT, been on for an age now, no signs at all of any rusting. He gave me a tip of giving them a weekly polish with duragilt, or a high end carnouba wax.

Order them directly from a Skoda dealer? Or perhaps check hkb5variant's ones out? Plain or here are the ones I've got myself.

I have the same Skoda ones as Mikko on my Bluemotion 140 GT and they look great, cost me £24 and you can order from any dealership with a parts dept it doesn't have to be skoda as long as you have the part number.

Thanks all. I have got the Skoda Yeti ones!

Just to ask....when fitting them have any of you cut your existing exhaust back slightly?

It says in the installation manual to cut them back, not too keen on the idea, just thought I would see what anyone else has done before I Bodge mine on! Ha!!

Cheers,

No just get a block of wood and hammer them on, don't cut your tailpipes as apparently it is a warrenty issue. I wasn't keen on cutting mine either so went and found out from VW, they fit perfect without cutting anyway.

I didn't bother cutting them in the end. They fit a treat. As the post above says, use a block of wood to knock them on. They are fairly easy to fit and in my humble opinion make them look 100 times better!!!!

Hi Guys

I too have the Skoda Yeti trims, £24 ish from our local dealer and 2 days for delivery. They look great compared to the standard pipes and as mentioned fitting is a doddle!! The instructions for cutting are rediculous but ensure you knock them on the correct distance so the ends match the profile of the car.
