RNS510 Question's

Post by flimbit »

hi,
new here, my rocco is on order, and expected due date is the end of may!
changing from a 2006Gti to a TDI Rocco......

i have a question about the RNS510, i currently have an aftermarket head unit in the GTi, and when i am playng a track and turn off the car half way thru, the next time i start, it starts back at the begining of the same track.
just wondering does the RNS510 do that, i used to have one in the Gti, but i can not recall if it ever did that.
i am presuming not as i do not recall it giving me any cause to get annoyed with it.

i am going to get either an RNS310 or 510 from ebay and fit it myself.

also, what are peoples thought on the RNS310 vs RNS510.
will post pics when it arrives.

thanks.

Welcome flimbit!

My retro-fitted RNS-510 doesn't restart the track from the beginning - it will resume playing from where it left off, after switching off the unit/ignition.

Can't comment on the differences between the 310 and 510 though...

When playing music on the RNS510 via my iPhone it resumes playback at the same place after being discounted and locking the car.

thanks for the info all.

i am leaning towards the RNS510 as i had it before, but with the 310 being several hundred Euro cheaper, its tempting.

I'd go for the RNS510 - higher resolution, larger screen is enough of a difference for me.

Hi Ian_Mac, could you possibly post your firmware version? I understand you need a setting in VAGCOM enabled to give you the secret menu to produce the result, which would be my guess at your next question to me in return :)

Otherwise if I was to know your car is newer than mine, it would help me guess it's a new firmware than mine (59 Plate)

It's 2720, I know this because I carried out the firmware, map (v7) & mdi update last Friday while the Royal Wedding was on. My car was also registered on a 59 plate.
