Drivers Door Rattle

Post by Gilez »

I have had a bit of a search around the threads, but havent really been able to find anything on this one, apart from one thread where the dealer apparently did something with some wires in the door.

It definately isnt the seal, and seems to be worse in the warmer months, but there is a very annoying rattle on my drivers door, but cannot pinpoint exactly where in the door it is coming from, but is is definately in the top part of the panel.

Having had the car over a year from new, I think I am correct in thinking that the dealer wouldnt look at it under warranty, but is removing the door panels a tricky task for a non-pro?
I can rely on my car, it's my Roc!!!

I had a similar problem with mine,a year old as well. My dealer done it under warranty. Adjusted the door and door keeper. Also adjusted the window? Seems to be fine now

I had my R serviced and Whilst I was there mentioned about the Rattle in the doors. After a test drive the VW guys agreed it was not right. Originally they warned taking the doors apart could make it worse once re fitted. Anyway, I left the car and had a day of driving a nice but very slow golf mk6. not too bad actually but no punch lol back to the topic.. They took the door trim off and test drove the car again,, Rattle still there .... In the report afterwards. They said they tightend up some wiring in the door and re adjusted the window and added special 'lubricant' to the window. All fixed... Happy Days !

To my horror now that the car makes no sound at all from the doors.... I can hear the dreaded Boot Rattle which was out sounded by the doors previously.. Which I will be fixing myself as I already experienced that dramatic screw up on my old Tdi Roc. But all in all after service and Door fix....Love the car again. I am curious if they change ECU settings or anything as the gear shifting pattern has dramatically changed and is better than ever. Possibly just the service.

BTW , was fixed under warranty so RESULT ! but Arguably shouldnt have needed fixed in the first place but eventually they will learn right.

Did you ever fix this? If not try putting a piece of felt between the door card and the rubber seal just thick enough to push the door card out slightly. Worked for me!

Sorry about the grubby door :hide:
