Wigit: Mine is still OK after 2 years, and I hardly use it. As you may already know, if you don't use it much, the seals can dry out and the coolant can slowly escape.

Noticed a week ago that mine wasn't working.

VagCom error codes shows:
1 Fault Found:
00229 - Refrigerant Pressure
002 - Lower Limit Exceeded

Haven't noticed any problems or signs of malfunction before.
I'm guessing either something is leaking or possibly the preassure sensor isn't working.
Fortunately, it's still under warranty and I'm taking it to the dealers on Monday to have it checked.

In my case it turns out that the compressor is broken :(
Which in turn apparently means that they will replace both the compressor and condenser on warrenty :)

2 years old and mine's just had the air con compressor replaced cos a bolt or something had come loose in it and was in danger of falling out which apparently could have seriously damaged the engine. That's 2 warranty claims in 2 years of ownership. Got to say though, the dealer, F. Cross in Scunthorpe have been superb in both instances.
