I put my order in 5 weeks early off the 3 month mark through the dealer 05/01/2011. Only cos they knew how long it would take. Ordered through motability 08/02/2011. Estimated delivery for mid to end of April.

Well, been to see the dealer again to double check that I can get in and out of the car. Everything is fine, so it looks as though it is all systems go. I also, found out how much all the options are going to cost :o(

One thing is for for certain, I will be ordering the car from another dealer as the customer service at the local one is not particularly good. One question I have for all of those of you who use hand controls is which make do you have installed on your Roc? I am thinking of getting techmobility hand controls.

I think that most people that are on motability , would find the scirocco some what easy to get into due to the large doors low sil and fully adjusting seat and steering wheel which is quite hard to find in one car.
my wife certainly found the scirocco much better than the golf or polo, myself i find the driving position very good for my disabiliy problem so all in all it was a excellent buy for the both of us.
we ordered mid febuary and were told about june which is not a problem as the lease has been extended we were we not asked for a deposit untill we pick up the car.. :)

I have been thinking about whether I should have ordered parking sensors to my car as I have noticed alot of people on here have them fitted. tbh the price put me off at over £300, Should I see about getting them fitted or can I get them fitted after I get the car? but not diy

I noticed alot of people talking about the parking sensors and also wondered the same thing. But its no problem u soon get used to it and you just use your wing mirrors more, its fine. However if you are worried and can afford it maybe ask about adding them.

Can they be added at a later date or do they need to be a factory option?

It can be added, but it really depends on how far you are in the ordering/build week allocation..ie if you have a build week slot you could possibly delay your car or even lose your allocated build week however you can get it retro fitted by the dealer, but you only get the audible warning .:)

E-mailed salesman and he said my car has not been scheduled into a build week yet so he would be able to amend the order to include parking sensors at £365. I'm thinking that is a fair bit of money for what it is but I will think about it, If the cars not been scheduled into a build week can anyone give me a idea when I should get my car?

Any probs call motability themselves. i put £1000 down on my 1.4tsi 160. I dident have to, just thought as i had all the cash anyway £3199 inc all extras, then i may aswell. VW Windrush Maidenhead. I ordered mine 5th jan 2011, build week was last week. Expected end of April. HOPEFULLY!! You always get to keep your current car till the new one arrives.
Car arrived already! Ordered 5th jan 2011. Car at dealers 22nd march 2011. 11 weeks from day of ordering. Great servive.

Rather than start a new thread I thought I would add to this one, Today I phoned the salesman and he told me my car has still not been given a build week, is this normal? It was ordered 4th march, He said it would be a further 13 weeks from the build, So much for a new car for the summer, oh well it should be worth the wait.

Well I'm 6'4" and 20 plus stones and I fit in and out of the Scirocco easier than I did in my previous BMW1 Series M Sport 3rd. The wheelchair fits better in the hatch, although the wheels must come off to use it with the rear passenger seat in position. At least we now have the option of carrying 4 when it was 3 max before.

I have no probs driving it (left leg amputee above knee) but as the surgeon has started nibbling at my right leg, which hand controls would people recommend?

Outright performance seems slightly slower than the BMW, but fuel usage at 35 + is pretty good. We would get almost that around town in the BMer... My wife got 42 heading south to see her mother in Taunton. including all the running around for a week.

Cheers

Mike

Well, the car has been ordered through Motability!! Am speaking to the dealer on Tuesday to tie up the last few loose ends including the colour! If Motability let me have white, then great. If not it will be reflex silver. I now have the long wait till it is delivered.

I'm on motability, motability only let you have metalic colours, so no white or red i'm afraid. Mine took exactly 12 weeks from day of oreder to delivery at dealers.

well some mobility cars seem to have made it through the order build cycle in reasonable time and others not. ours seems to come in the later. there seems no reason. other than dealer allocation not being made aware of at the time of order. :shake:
UPDATE CAR HAS NOW ARRIVED AT THE DEALERS AND READY FOR COLLECTION ON THURSDAY OF NEXT WEEK .
so our order has taken from feb 16 to july 7 in total.

Hi,

Just wanted to know, if you add any extras do the car how do you pay for it or do you just pay for how much it is upfront?
And the paint i guess motability covers the cost of paying the paint cost because they dontt allow it right?

All your extras get added to the advanced payment, wich you pay when you recieve the car. Or you can pay as much as you want up front, so when the car arrives you just pay whats left. They pay for all paint, but no white or red, as they only pay for metalic colours.
