... add in a little bit of Astra 3 door, stir in some Mercedes fussyiness (whoops dropped the whole bottle into the mix) - spray silver and you end up with this mess:- http://www.germancarforum.com/mercedes- ... nghai.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But we all know it is a concept

Saw the pic of this car in last Fridays car supplement in "the Sun". Straight away it looked like a Scirocco with a bling Merc front end (that would be toned down for production), extra side creases and ridiculously skinny wing mirrors. Every concept car you see has a space age interior that is never going to make it into production, even in a toned down form (so why do they bother?).

At least if it's designed like a Scirocco and not a wedge of cheese, it might not roll over on the "moose swerve" test in Scandinavia.

I don't really like the back, it just looks too high and bit too thin at the top? And I think this is a little bit similar to the bmw 1 series, or is it just me?

I actually quite like the look of that! Although you know it will never look the same once it goes into production. Still prefer the Roc though. :D

The Scirocco is an excellent packaging solution for a coupe, so I guess it was only a matter of time...

It's funny though that these days VW design is calm, confident and relatively understated whereas Merc (even given that this is a concept) is all blingy and hysterical. When I compare my neighbours new C-class next to my 'Roc, the Merc is just a mess of fussy detailing.

(The current Megane coupe is similar in overall packaging but looks rather different due to the visual tricks around the C pillar. The Scirocco is a more visually 'honest' shape in that request.)
