What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

Ordered a 170TDI GT about a month ago and have had a confirmed build date of week 18 2 weeks ago. Dealer rang me again yesterday with an update to say that build date was still week 18, and at this stage it is unlikely to slip back, but would possibly come forward a week or 2 if the plant were working more efficient than usual.

Yaroc: Are you ordering through a lease company or had any extras that may delay the build (xenons and pano roof spring to mind for previous delay causes).

maisbitt, Nope, no leasing company, it was ordered from Capitol Motors (same as gibbsy) and no options other that the ones on the right.

Out of curiosity I e-mailed VW UK on Tuesday. Here's the reply.

Thank you for your recent contact in relation to the Scirocco GT. Please accept my apologies for the delay in my response.

The lead time for this vehicle is 20 weeks from the date the factory receive the order. Obviously certain issue can effect the
lead time of your order, for example extra specification, high demand for the vehicle across the UK and Europe and build
allocation for the ordering retailer and model.

Volkswagen does support their customers if their order goes over this time by giving them a support vehicle until their order is
ready for collection.

Please note it is down to the ordering retailer to inform their customers of realistic time scales and any potential delays in
production. Also to keep them informed on a regular basis. Any issue with the ordering and lead time would need to be taken up
with the Brand Manager of the ordering retailer.

So in reality he could be quoting my dealer Absolutely no idea.

I had a phone call from VW customer services yesterday and they quoted almost the same word for word, when i queried why the order hadn't been accepted but the factory after 7 weeks he informed me my retailer doesn't have any allocation and VW CS have instructed the dealer to contact me but as yet they still haven't - poor show

Ordered on the 17th January Dealer phoned yesterday to say that its arrived in the UK and available to collect next thursday.

Told after 2 weeks that the order had been accepted.
Havn't got the build date yet though- will have call the dealers next week!

I was told that it can be up to 16 weeks before anything changes from this - i.e. VW giving a build date!

Just spoke to the dealer and he said build is still week 13 (28th March-1st April), he also mentioned the order has a 'Status of 20' which means it is still on for that date. So delivery should be approx 3 weeks after, which will be 18-22nd April that equates to 7- 8 weeks from order to delivery
Will post again here when it arrives.

Sorry buddy must of been half asleep when i wrote that, Solihull VW on the Stratford road as thats the dealer closest to my office. Ordered through Mark Bunn - Top Chap, really good dealership havent got a bad word to say so far! Mark has been brilliant and has successfully managed to put up with me changing my order constantly before it went to build! Would highly recommend...

I ordered in March 2011 and was expecting September but the dealer told me today its should be end of May, I am as a result a very happy bunny indeed, im still prepared for a late dissapointment but i might have her for the summer now.

Just called my dealer and then VW customer services,both said the same thing, build scheduled week 17, should be confirmed in the next few days, just hope it doesn't get put back. Might have it end of May with any luck.

Just had a call from the dealer saying that the car was built today and is currently being inspected! Stage 8 or something if anyone knows what that means? Can't wait!!

Pretty much one month from order to build... that seems rather good to me looking at other people's experiences. All I need now is for the boat to sink in the English Channel!

Still no news of my Roc. Ordered 13 weeks ago and still no build date. Never mind, every cloud has a silver lining road works have started close to home which are going to take 29 weeks to complete at least the Rocco won't have to queue in the traffic. Anyone for a 61 reg GT 170.

Sweet... chased my dealer today and have a confirmed build date of Week 15!!!

He reckons that means mid May arrival for me, which seems a little conservative, especially based on info above. I don't care though as i'm over the moon to be getting it this soon - i was all set for a July delivery!
