Few Questions before I take the plunge

Post by Daz85UK »

Hi,

Currently drive a 2.0 Turbo petrol SRI Astra and am looking at changing to a Scirocco R DSG very soon.

Am I going to notice much difference with regards to mpg on the 2 cars ( Astra averages 25mpg around town)
How much is a tank of fuel in the Scirocco?

One more quick question, has anyone had anything go wrong with their 'R' that HASN'T been covered under warranty?

Thanks
Darren

You should see about the same MPG as the astra, the DSG is quite economical so may be even better, no idea on how much to fill up as mines never empty but it was about £50 the last time i put some tesco 99 in, not sure why you ask as its the MPG that's important, if its a distance thing the tank is plenty big enough, as for going wrong there isn't much they wont cover if it goes wrong.

If you stay off the boost the MPG in the Rocco R is pretty good. Mines just had its first service yesterday, cant say I have had any faults on mine what so ever.

MPG - very much depends on your driving style. But if ur used to 25mpg in the Astra then you should be ok with the R.

Last Full tank of V Power cost me £70

No to your 3rd question.

Info: car has done 15k miles / 13 months of ownership. 1 service, 4 new tyres.

Mine was free as are the next two, but you should be able to beat the dealer down to about £110, on my edition 30 (Golf gti i paid £99 for the first service and £110 for the second one, just ring around dealers and get quotes (especially Skoda dealers) then get VW to match, or pretend you have better quote :yummy:

I signed up to a 3 yr / 36k miles Service / Maintenance / Tyres aka SMT deal. I pay a monthly premium to cover all those needs.

Otherwise like 182_blue says it can range from £99 to £200. Mine would have been £150 I reckon.

After £2k and lots of motorway driving I'm getting an extraordinary 32mpg overall. This has been running the car in, but with some motorway crusing and staying away from the S mode I expect to average over 25 easy. Certainly better than my old VXR!

I got mine last week and am absolutely loving it!!! The first few days I was averaging about 16mpg but now I've calmed down a bit (and my wallet's getting lighter!) I'm averaging about 29mpg.

Quick question - Do I always need to put in Premium unleaded/V Power (over 98)?

It will run better on SUL/V power than normal UL 95 octane stuff so yes.

I actually don't understand why people buy a performance car and then Put in run of the mill 95 octane fuel. :shake:

Thanks, I've been putting in the SUL/V Power but I'm driving over 100 miles a day so costing a fortune! I think I just need to stay out of S mode (but it's so much fun!!! :D ). The main manual that came with it is just the standard Scirocco one and the R one is about 3 pages with not a lot of info in it!
