MKV GTI to Scirocco 2.0 TSI
MKV GTI to Scirocco 2.0 TSI
Hello Everyone,
Im new to the forum, usual suspect on golfgti.co.uk! However I have been looking into a new car and
the scirroco looks gorgeous to me and my fiancee. We have a mark 5 golf GTi at the moment
and i love the car but its coming up for time to change it. Im considering the 2.0 TSI Scirroco GT with DSG, has
anyone else made the jump from GTI to the Scirocco? My current GTi doesnt have DSG but after all the rave
reviews about it i would like to try it considering the missus drives in heavy traffic everyday in edinburgh.
We have had a few discussions on what colour to go for also, i like white with the black leather but she prefers black with black leather, my view is that the latter will be too dark. Whats your guys oppinions? anyone got this combination? Another appealing point to the scirocco is its exclusivity, i dont think i have ever seen one on the road!
Thanks
Graeme

My GTi is just a 200 PS 2007 model, Never had any problems with my car and i will be very sad to see it go. I have also had a Civic typeR Premier edition in the past and a BMW 120D M Sport, The civic was also brilliant but the BMW rubbish. i Will Never know why i went for it !

I'm moving from a MK5 GTi to a Scirocco, but as mine hasn't arrived yet I'm not in a position to compare. Got to say that my GTi has been a fantastic car over the 3 years I've owned it so the Scirocco has a lot to live up to.

Ive made the jump from a MK5 GTI ( manual ) to a Scirocco GT 2.0TFSI ( manual ) and its a step up let me tell you!, i expected the car to be similar to the golf, but it isnt, it drives better, the gearing is better, the only down side is a loss of practicality, my mk5 hauled two old kitchens to the dump without fuss, the scirocco wont do that.
If your going to buy one, rear sensors are a must, i didnt spec them, but the rear visibility is poor, also spec the tyre pressure monitor, standard on the GTI only an option on the ROC.

Yes, I do and I love it, very smart!scotgc wrote:i like white with the black leather but she prefers black with black leather, my view is that the latter will be too dark. Whats your guys oppinions? anyone got this combination?
But you sure can't go wrong with White/black either, and it’s a nice contrast.
It's really a matter of taste, but the Roc looks good in any colour!

Scirocco definately suits light colours over dark, ( just my opinion ) it would look stunning in white, my MK5 was candy white, and it still looked good after 3 years. You could always get an opal silver, then you would be the first forum member on here to have one!scotgc wrote: i like white with the black leather but she prefers black with black leather, my view is that the latter will be too dark. I also had a white Mk5 GTI DSG.I now have a white Scirocco with DSG.The Scirocco feels a fair bit quicker to be honest.Between the Golf and Scirocco i also owned a new shape S3 and i prefer the Scirocco to that too.It just feels special,i know that sounds a bit airy fairy but it's true!
I have the truffle leather though,i love it but it seems it's an opinion splitter! Either way i'd thoroughly recommend the switch. You'll still have all the things you love about your Golf and a few more nice little touches besides.

It does look good in light colours (although personally I find the white looks nice only with a sunroof, otherwise it's boring) but you simply cannot go wrong with black, looks sexy as hell!albertz33 wrote: Scirocco definately suits light colours over dark, ( just my opinion ) it would look stunning in white

Re: MKV GTI to Scirocco 2.0 TSI
Thanks for the quick replys's chaps, Its much appreciated. Yeah i like the sound of white exterior with black interior.
I was sitting in a truffle / black car the other day and it was also lovely, lots of choices to make hehe. I dont think i would like another silver car, my current GTI is reflex Silver and although it does look
when clean i have previously had four black cars and they look so much better when sparkling clean ! White is a viable option as its also gorgeous when clean.
Just have to convince the missus, either way i dont think i would be dissapointed. My options would be
Black vienna leather
Parking sensors ( rear is wide and view is crap from the back window)
DSG
and Xenon's if available, my dealer did say that there were some available on his list but alot of them had loads of options like the dynaudio pack.
Anyone got the dynaudio pack ? whats it like, worth the upgrade?

Hi Scotgc
Like you (and many others) I traded from a MkV GTi to the 'roc. Like you I loved my GTi - real chameleon car; took the in laws to the South of France in it - great trip - then when they are out of the car, its a fun drive again!!! You will miss the space in the 'roc, but its a price so well paying! The car is quicker and the gearing is better. Also it is a head turner. I got the rising blue, but I am an old fart
so probably goes with my more mature years!
My advice - get the rear sensors - worth the money and they really work. when they go red - you have about 6" left...
Personally I don't like DSG and prefer manual - but it's an individual thing. I had a choice of two that the dealer was shifting and went for the one with sunroof - which I love - makes the car really airy and is great for getting fresh air in - even in the winter. Mine was also supplied with leather, winter pack and the sat nav. I REALLY rate the sat nav. Having said that have just bought a camera detector as the sat nav doesn't have cameras in it
I also had cruise fitted as I do some motorway miles and my GTi had it. I didn't have tyre sensor fitted - and wish i had! will get it done soon!
Anyway - enjoy - they are great cars!!!
