Creaking suspension on new Scirocco in warm weather
Hi, I just took delivery of a brand new Scirocco 2.0Tsi, and I've noticed that when warmed up, both front and rear suspension make lots of little creaking noises as the car goes along road imperfections and more pronounced creaking noises as the car goes over short speed bumps. Has anyone else experienced this?
I live in Singapore, so there are no cold weather issues here.
I know one possibility are the transport blocks, but I've tried having a look at the springs and I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary, although I'm not really familiar as to what these blocks look like.
Any thoughts?

Hi popjunkie, I live in Singapore as well^^, I can't say i've noticed any creaky noise from suspension, but I notice a lot of rattles from boot tail gate(very annoying) and also what seems to be from brakes(squeaks) at gradual stopping especially during reverse and cold start. Are you sure that its the suspension coz I hear that boot rattles not uncommon. No noise from suspension even with quite a speedy drive over the speed humps.. I've got an appointment with the dealer on monday to sort out the noise so I might let you know.. Cheers!

Re: Creaking suspension on new Scirocco in warm weather
What a coincidence, I've actually got an appointment on Monday morning as well for this!
I'm quite certain its both front and rear suspension, because when I go over a speed bump slowly, the creaking comes first from the front and then the same creaking is soon heard from the back...
I should count myself lucky that I haven't noticed any boot rattles... or maybe all I'm hearing is the suspension. I have noticed a bit of squeaking coming from the brakes, but I don't want to make too much noise about that yet given that the car is still very new.

I've noticed the same creaking noise too, especially on my front suspension. I can hear it only when I go over speed bumps though.
popjunkie, let us know what you find out.

I had mine in today for a knock/tapping sound on the rhs rear - they moved the closed point on the tailgate and there was a TPI to cover the suspension rattle. Not really heard any noises at the front TBH.

Re: Creaking suspension on new Scirocco in warm weather
Update: The noise was apparently coming from the self-levelling sensors for the xenons. Apparently they were loose and the suspension rods were effectively amplifying the sound of their movement throughout the interior of the car (and as a result, slowly driving me crazy). Its apparently been fixed now with some lubricant, so fingers crossed.
On a separate note, my car has also stalled twice on start-up. I've been told by VW that its very odd for that to be happening to a 2.0, and they've written to Germany for advice. Anyone else experienced this?

My noise was especially noticeable over speed bumps, but the noise could be heard even on slightly uneven road surfaces. Do you have xenons on your car?Crossbone wrote:I've noticed the same creaking noise too, especially on my front suspension. I can hear it only when I go over speed bumps though.

I had rear boot creaking noise thinking it was the change in the suspension fitting, however it turned out to be loose boot, so they stuck two what I can only describe as sticky foam pieces in each side of the boot (very small) and now the boot doesn't vibrate when driving along and hitting pot holes (as you do).

Initially I thought it could have been the boot as well, but whatever they did with the sensors seems to have cured the creaking. I've actually not had any boot rattles to date, and given how it seems to be such a common problem, I think I should count myself very lucky!yellowplum wrote:I had rear boot creaking noise thinking it was the change in the suspension fitting, however it turned out to be loose boot, so they stuck two what I can only describe as sticky foam pieces in each side of the boot (very small) and now the boot doesn't vibrate when driving along and hitting pot holes (as you do).

Re: Creaking suspension on new Scirocco in warm weather
Are you saying the noise comes about only when the Xenons are lit?
I am hearing ticking noise (single-tick each time) presumably from the right front suspension when turning the wheel or when going over humps. At times the tick noise can be felt through vibrations to my hands on the wheel. I see numerous mentions about similar issues at the VW Singapore forum - but there wasn't a single useful conclusion. It seems VW Singapore acknowledged that it is a known problem but could not offer any resolution/fix.
I am going to bring this up to VW in my next Service. I am keen to see for myself how VW deal with this complaint.
