Another question from the annoying newbie

Post by Sootchucker »

Hi guys,

Sorry for yet another question. Does anyone know if it's possible to carry a full sized spare in the boot of the Rocco. On the Golf, that also comes as standard with a space saver, but there's an ooption extra (which I purchased) that consists ot 2 polystyrene moulded boot floor inserts, that effectively raise the boot floor enough to get a wider wheel in. As a bonus, it also gives you lots of extra cubby holes to store things (see pic below from the Golf)

Is anything like this available for the Rocco, as I have the option of a very cheap original interlagos alloy from a friend ?

Not that i've heard of mate. A good idea but the Roc's boot is shallower than a golf to start with so would further reduce valuable boot space

I had to put my spacesaver wheel on recently and tried to put my 18" Interlagos back in recess in the boot. No chance.
Perhaps if I took everything out of my boot and left the carpet / floor raised it would have gone in. Would probably need to take the parcel shelf out too to get it in.

Hmm, that could cause a problem for me. Cocker Spaniel or 18 inch wheel on the back seat? OK Cocker wins.

Sootchucker - Would you happen to have a part number for the Golf boot foam? - Thanks.

Thanks for the info, might be well interested in the parts when you get the Roc. Just looked them up on ETKA, it lists a different lock cover plastic trim panel to go with the foams, did you have to get that as well or did the standard space saver trim work OK?

If you are referring to the foam tool case (the circular thing that the jack and tools go in) then yes, I had to get a new one (will be selling this with the foam inserts). The dealer also told me I needed a new boot carpet, but in fact the existing one still fits perfectly. So in conclusion, the only parts I needed were the 2 foam Inserts and the tool holder - nothing else.

I thought a new tool foam might be needed when I tried to fit everything in the boot with my full size spare. I'll defiantly take the parts off your hands when you are ready. Shame VW don't do something for the Roc's.
