Whats the Best or Worst Courtesy Car youve ever had?

Post by Joloke »

As Per the title really

The first courtesy car i ever had was a brand new Fiat Panda from an accident repair Centre when some scroat vandalised my Micra in a council car park :grumpy: )

I remember going into the repair centres car park to see a sea of blue and red Pandas plus one Vomit Green one :(
As i needed an auto they only had one, guess which one?

yup you guessed
Image

The Interior was even worse bright orange and yellow i kid you not!!! :eyepop:

It had a Fiat dualogic gearbox which the first day i had it caused great embarasement (to add to the colour of the car LOL) everytime you put it in forward gears it would roll backwards, put it in reverse it would roll forwards

I remember being at a set of lights scared it was going to roll back so had one foot on the gas the other on the brake, the lights changed and i shot off at some speed with revs up to 8000rpm and smoke pouring out the front wheel arches

Had the car for about a month and once i got used to it didnt want to let it go :( really nippy and very economical and i even got used to the colour!!!

September 08
Golf had to go in for a fault diagnosis and there wasnt an auto avaiable as such so we ended up with our salesmans personal car

an 08 Edition 30 GTI with added Omphhhh

His words and ill quote " if you promise not to wrap it around a tree you can have my car for the day"

This edition 30 had been chipped and was producing 309bhp!!!
Image

Awww theres our old Mini "Boris" next to it

It was utterly Mental!!! we had a job getting it off the dealers forcourt because we couldnt get traction :fall:

The Traction control kepts switching itself on and off as it couldnt cope PMSL!!!

We had a great time with that car, expensive but great as it drank premium fuel like Oliver Reed at a free bar!!!

i still remember as we pulled alongside an identical edition 30 on the M4 roadworks in a 50 limit the other driver looked at our car and then as the end of restriction sign came up they started to put their foot down "as we overtook it" within 3-4 seconds we couldnt even see it in our mirror

We guess theirs wasnt chipped  :shake:

That leads us to earlier this week when we took the Roc in
We were given this
Image

A Polo GTI 180BHP
Wow what a nutty little car!!!!

Not that good on fuel but boy oh boy we enjoyed our few days with it!!!

However it wasnt as refined as our Roc so we were glad to get the our car back

So the question is what was the worst Courtesy car youve ever had and what was the best that you wished you didnt have to give back :(

Over to you......

Jodie :)

first thing you notice when you switch from Audi to VW is the courtesy cars aren't so good.

worst VW was a Fox, most surprising was a Polo TDI Bluemotion which was a cracking little motor

most fun but not to every bodies tastes was this for a week from VWR, was a bit full chasis wise for a 20k a year daily

Image

best Audi was a TT soft top, you look a bit of a c#ck in one but it was a nice sunny day

Worst car I got was a few years ago - a Daewoo Matiz which would barely reach 60 miles per hour and 45 on hills if you gave it a good run at it!!!

I once got offered a Ford KA as a replacement for my Cougar.

Needless to say, I didn't leave my car with them and took it to a different dealer. They didn't offer me a courtesy car as I could get the train to/from home to the garage easier.

Never bought another Ford since!

My colleague got one of those while her 'roc was being fixed after an accident. We met a couple of times while she was driving the Matiz, and I'd deliberately park next to her and zoom away from her when we pulled out of car parks just for fun.

I now believe in Karma; I've just been told I'm getting a Micra whilst my car's having a little bit of bodywork done. That'll be three days I work from home then. Best car I got followed the most awful paintjob done on my Passat by a bodywork company in Worcester. They delivered it twice with huge circular over buffing marks, and each time I got a crap car while they sorted out their slapdash work. The third time I got their MD's top of the range Merc something or other. Didn't like it; made me feel really old. And that's from someone driving their third successive Passat...

Never had to have one. I'm probably looking to move on to an A5 next, so hopefully this car and that next one won't be so bad!

lol @ Lada Riva. Reminds me of when my dad got a Yugo!

I used to have a fiat coupe turbo (a great car at the time) and once was given a cinquiceno with a sewing machine engine that must have been about 750cc the dealership was a few hundred yards from a fast moving dual carrigeway and the entry off the slip road having just got out of a 250 to the cinq was rather scary - especially for the beemer hammering down the inside lane and me running out of slip at about 30mph having floored it at the start of the sliproad - it made for an interseting journey home :)

1.2L Hyundai Getz whilst my Celica was being repaired a couple of years ago - it was so bad that it was fun having it for a week or so and very cheap to run :)

I had to take my leon into the garage for service. Was given a car, was a bit cheeky and asked for one of the salesman's ibiza FR. :p

The interior is utter rubbish, not a fan of the dsg but the 1.4 twincharger engine was a proper peach. So so quick and really revvy. :vibes: I'm thinking about getting a scirocco with the 1.4 160 and chipping it up to about 200. Mmmm!

Worst - Chevrolet Spark, when I recently had to take car to dealer for some checks and all BMW courtesy cars were apparently booked out..........utter rubbish in almost every way, and with one of the cheapest, tackiest looking interiors I have ever seen on a so-called 'modern' vehicle. Best - a few years ago a Mercedes S350 with all the toys, I struck lucky at the Benz dealer that day I think!! :D

My worst courtesy car has to have been a Hyundai Accent. Not sure on the engine size but what I do know is that on going from a 30 to 60 limit I was out accelerated by a single decker bus

I don't get them very often. I usually arrange a long weekend off and see my parents and my dad picks me up but the best one I had I think was a ford Ka. I'd never driven one before and I have to say it was a cracking little car. Peppy, nimble, spacious. Ideal little run about.

Worst was either a bag of bolts Pug 405 estate diesel that sounded like someone rattling ball bearings in a tin bucket (and it was a dealer demo so almost new!), or a lovely Rover 214, fake wood and all. It could wallow for England! I wasn't entirely sure the suspension was connected to the chassis :)

The worst one I have ever had is the one I am currently in right now, it's totally invisible to the human eye ! Because my dealer has "lost" it somewhere !! They have offered me a lift to work but I have decided to sit here and drink their rank coffee while they service my car instead. Oh well .....

The worst 2 I've ever had are a Nissan Micra 1l Automatic and a Hyundai Accent Atlantic (which had the most dangerous steering in the world, shockingly bad car)

VW gave me a 1.2 tsi Mk6 Golf recently which was surpisingly good, I've had a 1.3 Turbo diesel Fiat Panda, not as awful as the colour you had but it was a surprisingly fun car and handled like a go kart!

Nissan cube? Is that the thing that looks like a baby icecream van with the weird back windows?

Worst ever was the bottom spec Fiat Punto from the Benfield Bodyshop - had it for 3 days while they sorted an abysmal repair to my 170TDI Golf. Exit onto a very steep incline sliproad onto the A1. That sliproad is about 1.3 miles long and still only got up to 45mph to enter onto a national speed limit triple carriageway.

I usually get shitty low end Polos from the local dealership. Can't recall ever having a good courtesy car from VW.
