Strange Noise???

Post by Joloke »

For the past couple of weeks we have been experiencing a strange noise comming from our Scirocco :(

Its a little like a old fashioned bell ringing but imagine that bell is inside a box with lots of wadding so theres no ring as such just a dull buzz like a Brrrrrrrr

We took him back to the dealers yesterday and told them about it thinking it may be the bump stops or possibly a tailgate rattle :?

They came out for a little run with us and have said though they dont know what it is exactly it appears to be comming from the floorpan under the seat

Its been booked in but as i can only drive autos they havnt got a courtesy car available but our salesman has very kindly offered us his own car for a few days a week on monday

So as of 17th ill be driving a New Polo GTI :D

I will enjoy it dont get me wrong but i will miss the Rocco whilst they have it

They have said it could take up to 3 days to discover whats causing this buzz :eyepop:

It tends to happen when pulling away from lights, accelerating after being slowed down or as turning out of a junction then powering up

Has anybody else experienced anything like this? Did you get to the bottom of it?

I sure hope we do as its doing our heads in :fall:

Its not something we feel though it appears to be a vibration we hear it rarther than feel it

Not sure if its a diesel engine issue or we just have a one off secluded case?

The car went in on Monday 17th January and we got it back Wednesday

we were given a courtesy car for those three days and what a car!!!!

Anyway the noise turned out to be exhaust brackets

It appears that they had been cross threaded at the factory but an enterprising factory worker decided instead of removing said braket and fessing up to it he forced the nuts past the damaged threads enough to get it on

Aparently one wasnt tight enough and the other bolt had actually sheered off :grumpy: :eyepop:

Not sure if they get into trouble for wastage but thats what was causing the Buzz/hum/Rattle kind of noise :fall:

Theyve replaced the bolts and the noise is no more :D

To be honest it even appears to idle more quietly too

Hopefully this is the last issue we will have with the car?

Incidentally the Polo Loan Car was Fun but we were glad to get the rocco back as its soo much more refined and has better fuel economy :D

Yeh we drove it at 70ish

Ive never seen a car like it as the Speedo needle went up the fuel gauge needle went the other way in unison

Id love one as a "Fun car" but i think they are just to expensive for what they are at nearly £20k!!!!

And they are soo Basic :grumpy:

Id say its the nearest thing to driving an original Mk1 Golf with a more modern engine though   :D

hi guys, I have another type of strange noise that i can't seem to figure out where its coming from. i can hear buzzing or creaking noise when i am braking and coming to a stop little less smoothly and also when i am releasing my foot off the brake pedal half way and holding it there, as it just creeps forward. It doesn't sound like its from the suspension as I can drive over a speed hump quite hard without any noise from the suspension. I didn't expect to hear it from the disc/pad yet as i have had my roc for only 1 week... thought I'd expect that kind of noise from older cars.. can anyone enlighten me on this plz.
