As 182 alludes to, you can't really say its a good deal (or not) without knowing the total cost of the purchase. You'll be paying £18,255 over three years with nothing to show at the end of it if you hand it back. Back to square one then having to find another hefty deposit.

car sounds great in terms of spec, however, when you factor the deposit the £18k equates to just over £500 a month, sounds an expensive way of renting if you want to hand it back, needless to say the final payment figure will determin i its a good deal, i'm sure there are better lease deals out there

What he says. You should be looking a 3+36 plan. If you need a rough guide I've just leased a 2.0 TDI for around £220 a month,
Wheelnut: £220 + VAT a month? What was the deposit on that - 3 or 6 months advance rental? Sounds an ok deal at 6 months or a great deal at 3 months advance rental.
I got a £20,000 bank loan at 8.9% APR for 5 years to buy my 2.0TDI GT (£413pm).
At 2.5years/3years old, the car should be worth about £2500 more than I owe on it (trade-in value, or more if you can sell privately). No deposit up front, no advance fees etc.
If you price it over 3 years, and take out the equity of £2500 spread over 36 months, thats the equivalent of £344 per month, as opposed to £220 + VAT = £264. When you add in the advance rental, spread over 36 months, £264 becomes £286pm (3months advance) or £308pm (6 months advance rental), any other fees to consider?
There are far better deals to be had away from VW finance, either lease/rental or private car loan.
VET might get clobbered on his options list, not sure whether those options are fairly priced on a lease deal. For £3430 of options (including DSG in car cost, not options cost). Assuming those options depreciate 50%, the leasing company should be charging about £49 a month over the basic rental price of a 2.0TSI DSG.
On a 3 + 36 deal, you could pay up to £470pm with your specced up car and still be no worse off than the VW deal (higher monthly rate due to lower initial deposit: 3 months lease rate vs £4000). If the above assumption about lease option depreciation is true, then a basic car rate (before options) of £420 a month is no worse than VWs offer.
I'm sure you can beat £420 a month basic lease on a 2.0TSI (before options) by looking around. You might have less trouble getting a quick allocation fom a VW dealer than through the lease company though.

I have ordered a 1.4 tsi with options shown on the right.
I am paying 3 + 23 for £295 + VAT personal lease.
At the end of the contract I simply give it back! The 'cost' is £125 as a few for the lease.
Only problem is the wait you will have but sure if you ring round some will have stock vehicals. I used Hawkins Fleet. just make sure you mention my referral should you contact them.
Wheelnut: Where'd you get yours from? I could be over £50 a month better off overall on your deal (not counting 3 price rises on the car since I bought mine!). Would be a serious consideration when I aim to change my car in Sept, assuming the local dealership would buy my car off me! For Sept delivery I should probably be ordering it soon!

I've been enquiring further and I'm now looking at buying the car outright as opposed to financing it through VW.
On the look out for an ex-demo or 1yr old Scirocco 2.0 TSi GT now, seems to be quite a few on the VW network at the moment,although unfortunately not at any of my local dealers.
Any one have any experience of how negotiable the listed prices have been on used Sciroccos at VW dealers?
With residuals so high, I doubt you'd pay significantly less than list price for a 1 year old ex demonstrator. I'd buy new with at least a 7% discount on list price.
Tactically, i've found you can't just go into your local dealership and say "I want 2 grand off a Roc" (although that might work with some dealers), you need to show them that you can get that kind of deal elsewhere online, like UKNewcars, Drivethedeal etc. You need to sort your part ex out too (if you have one).
Go to the dealers, look at the car, get a test drive, let them value your part ex, and THEN start talking discounts. If you start talking discounts before you establish part ex value then they could knock a sizeable chunk of your discount off the value of the part-ex.
Don't forget the overall cost to change though. If VW will give you only £1000 off the ROC, but will give you £1000 more part ex than elsewhere, that's still a 2 grand saving over the elsewhere place. This happened to me last time - I got a very generous part ex value on my Golf MK5 GT TDI170, although it's less liekly to be a great part ex price if you haven't got a VW to part ex.
You may have to take an unallocated car to get maximum discount. They aren't going to let you order from their limited allocation with a big discount when someone else is prepared to pay full list price to order exactly what they would like to specify.

For 8000mpa on a lesser specced TSi GT, Viper, Lugano Black, Sunroof, mine is £339.50 + VAT a month - no deposit, just 36 payments. Contract hire so it just goes back (or I get an option to extend the contract or buy it) at the end of term.
