Importing Scirocco R to Australia..

Post by apmitchell »

Hi Guys,

I really need your help.. I have imported a Scirocco R from NZ and to get the car approved fro australian roads I need a E Label that displays all the emissions for the euro 5 standards.. The name of this is the E markings label..
As Australia doesn't follow the rules I can't locate this sticker on my Scirocco..
Do you guys know of the sticker I'm referring to and if possible does anyone have a photo of one so I can order one from Volkswagen..
Any help in this matter would be much appreciated..
Thank you in advance.. :)

I don't recall seeing and such sticker on the car itself, the only thing I can think of is an A4 size poster that was stuck on a plinth near my car in the showroom, there may have been something in the glovebox when I bought it but I think it all got thrown away,I will look later, I can have a look on ETKA later too, have you tried a VW dealer

Hey,
Thanks for the replies, The label will be on the car some where.. So I have been told as your cars run on the new euro emissions and require
a E label..
I will try and post a pick of the E label on a uk imported Ferrari..

The emissions data sticker would have been on the car identifier tag attached in the factory, once your dealer has pdi'd the car it'll have been thrown away. I can't imagine these would be orderable from vw..

I've only ever seen these a couple of road legal fork trucks ordered for work from some mainland Europe manufacturer damn stickers took an age to remove from the windscreen.

Yeah I've ask NZ, But unfortunately Aust and NZ run on the same regulations and don't have the E label either.. I have a guy that I meet here in Sydney that was admiring my
HPA turbo powered CW R32 golf... He has a friend that works for volkswagen and actually knows of the E label I'm talking about.

A silly question, But how do I upload photo's on this forum?

I'm confused. If Aus and NZ run on same rules, and VW NZ doesn't have the label then why do u need it to register the car for Australian roads??

If all cars in Australia require this label to make them allowable to drive on Australian roads then surely all cars coming into NZ and Aus will have this label??

I'm confused to! They won't pass the car unless we have a sticker to prove it's emissions are up to euro 5 standards.. The Scirocco R is the same as the Golf R that is brought in by Volkswagen Australia, But we can't compare it because the Golf R has 4motion and the Scirocco R is FWD.. :grumpy:

There are guys that have brought on the Scirocco 2.0 TSI and have had it approved because they had a TSI golf they could compare it too..
The Australian regulations are a nightmare and have cost us a lots of money..

The only emissions sticker I know comes with the Scirocco is this one.
1-4TSI 160PS Emissions - 02.jpg
As b0rk states, its normally discarded at the PDI if its not stuck on the Scirocco.

There is a way to partly reproduce it by visiting ERWIN with your chassis number and 4 euros. The bar code is reproduced in a file located in the Maintenance section.

This sheet is for the 1.4TSi 160PS. There will be an equivalent for the Scirocco R.
1-4TSI 160PS Emissions - 01.jpg
If it has to be the exact sticker style above rather than a bar code sticker, then it may have to be a specific request to VW Germany. Email them direct and their Technical Department may be helpful.

If you want a Ferrari/Maserati type sticker, it may be sticker hasn't been drawn up due to the areas where the Scirocco is presently sold do not generate the requirement.

Also it may be worth your while contacting this guy IRON CHEF by email in Australia who was on here a while ago. He was importing Sciroccos. So he must have come up against the same requirements. He's not been on here since March 2010 so a PM won't be worthwhile.
