RNS 315

Post by chazzle69 »

Hello all.

I am thinking of specifying the above head unit in my new Roc, but can find very little UK information or user reviews on the net to aid in my decision making, presumably due to its recent addition to the options list (MY2011 changes).

I would love to specify the RNS 510, but my sadly my budget cannot stretch to its price tag, so looking for an alternative Satnav unit.

I am trying to answer the following questions:

1: Does the unit work the same as the RCD 510 when using the rear parking sensors i.e. visual display appearing?
2: Is the unit a single CD or 6 CD changer as per the RCD 510?

Any help would be massively appreciated !!

p.s. I am a newbie to the forum, so please be gentle : )

How much is it to spec it ?, personally i would have the basic unit then buy an RNS510 from a private seller and put it in myself, you can get a C unit for about £550, the older units are less

1: I'd think so. The RNS310 has it so why would it be gone in the RNS315.
2: No, single slot CD player. But the SD slot is now for audio only and can read up to 32gb I think. So I wouldn't mis the changer. The nav is on internal memory in this one.

I have a Jan 2014 Scirocco R-line and use and iPod Nano. I find that if I switch the engine off for any length of time then it forgets the track I was on and goes back to the start of Songs. Does anyone else have this issue, I don't know if it is the RNS 315 or my iPod that is causing this issue
