Has anyone retrofitted VW Cruise Control to a 59 plate?

Post by Ryy »

I have seen it in the brochure, I have a 59 plate. It's like £162.50 - but doesn't say anything about fitting or have the "star" graphic with "includes fitting" as it does on other pages.

If anyone has had it done, is it the same as standard or a bit different? Also, what price did you pay?

Just had it retrofitted to an '09, price was as you quoted, haven't actually tested it yet though!

It's kind of irrelevant now for me as when I called they said they tried to fit it to my car before I brought it, and it's a "10 chassis" even though I'm sure this car was built in September 2009.

Anyone know if it's possible for a "10 chassis" car to have it retrofitted?

I went back today to get something sorted on the car and they still told me that you cannot fit CC to this car. I know it's a MY2010 car, but I'm just bloody confused, I think the only way to do it is the 'personal' way like DAR did. I'm sure he said something was different about the column.

You've never written as far as I can recall which week number the build is from the boot sticker using the decode post elsewhere. ??? Above you say Sept 2009 yet the the dealer say no???? :shake: :shake: Only if its from early Nov'09. So, what week number? Then may be a definite answer can be provided how you should proceed.

It a WK 28. Thursday MY2010 (28-4-0101).

So still relly stuck. I always say this, but I'm switched on with many things, but this is clearly my down point. Some people say you can, some people say you can't. But actually understanding etc is confusing (Cars are like Aston Villa on Champtionship Manager 97/98. i.e, my bogey team. So cars are my bogey knowledge!)

I reckon you can fit. I would wager it is the same kit as I used.

hang on that means it was built julyish 2009 (MY2010) [& then held & registered sept 1st as a 59 plate I assume] so the dealer should be able to fit it as its the released kit. you allude to asking the dealer if they could retrofit earlier in this thread, did you?
it sounds like someone is telling porkies...

They told me point blank that they "tried" to fit it and they couldn't as it's not for that model.

Right, I'm calling them again tomorrow. See where my confusion is. I will possibly call VW actually first, ask them wtf is going on etc.

That's two people and my own gut instinct that it can be fitted. So I will investigate this.

Now can any of you help me with the RNS510? They say they can't update firmware that means I can't get past 2GB. I guess I could live with that, but, will that at all stop V7 going on from the 'place' everyone else is getting them from? They say it's a different model unit and the book is wrong. I can scan that in the other thread I have made (few questions about the RNS510) and show what they said.

Thanks god we have these forums.
