One more Stormtrooper, with a nice grin
The post is two weeks overdue, but hey, at least I've spent it with my new car. I finally took delivery of my new Scirocco. This is her in her winter outfit on day of delivery. 17" Long Beach rims w/ obligatory winter tyres (with a good reason, too). Had the "GTI-footrest" fitted to match the pedals the next day, in the summer maybe subtle lowering and the Interlagos' are already waiting in the storeroom. Had the grill painted as an extra through the dealer (specced without fogs) and I almost passed out when I saw it. Not the fastest car in town, but she's pretty. What do you think?
1500km on the clock with no problems other than the engine seems to be heating up slowly... We saw a historical -20C in southern Finland already in November. Did somebody divert the Gulf stream or what... I'll try to get more representable pics up once it makes sense again.

240EUR total, something like 160 for parts (I still have the originals untouched) + 80 for painting and fitting.kane1210 wrote:Very nice loving the grin!! what was the total from that from the dealer?

Re: One more Stormtrooper, with a nice grin
Time for an update from the winter wonderland. My mind has been in the summer ahead for a while already, but we just get more snow... Records are meant to be broken once again it seems.
I finally debadged my car, and the bum looks nice and clean. And big. Which I like. Also had the paint sealed now that it made more sense and had the rear windows tinted. I wanted to go a bit darker with them, but I haven't seen the car in proper daylight yet. It's now at about factory shade. The sun almost came out on my way home so I grabbed the opportunity for some pics.
(You can click the pics for larger versions on flickr and a few bonus images.)

Re: One more Stormtrooper, with a nice grin
Thanks! I arranged it through the dealer. I listed him the part numbers needed and sent some images on how I want it to be done. We'd had some disagreement earlier on how to handle my order and he seemed quite eager to please. And it seemed to be not too difficult for them to arrange. They work together with a bodyshop nearby for repairs and had them do the painting and install was done by the dealer before I picked it up. I'm sure you can get this done in most bodyshops afterwards as well. Get them the parts and paint code.sjobbe wrote:Nice. Where/who did that front? I might do the same if the price is as you say. These are the part numbers. RW1 should be credited for the original info IIRC.
Lower grille - the main thing, the sides of which need painting, part number 1K8 853 677 9B9
Tow hook cover - needs painting as well, part number 1K8 807241 A9B9

I don't think it's a boat at all, mate. Isn't that an energy plant or some such?

This is the link to the photo it looks like something out of a scary movie like Fog :-)
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I am sure it is a boat might be wrong, but still some great photos of his roc in the snow
