Just after visiting my dealer who got my new 140 TDI Scirocco in this week. Very happy with it except this iPod cable and connector point was missing. I was led to believe that this was now standard and dealers had been informed of this fact. This is an Irish car so I'm trying to clarify if it's somehow different from the UK Spec?
Did I misunderstand something or is this still an option. They are quoting me €105 plus VAT for what is essentially a cable which is pretty jaw dropping.

Should come complete with an iPod lead and a USB lead. All the showroom cars I've sat in have both leads in the glove box compartment!

Standard and included in the price of the car with all UK cars... Presume Irish cars would be the same but cannot confirm this. See this: http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/roccop ... Connection" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: A definitive answer to iPod Cable Inclusion
Kiwiwelt,
the irish specs are quite different to the UK, I would say they were more akin to the continent (less standard equipment, more options and 'packs')
on the irish site http://www.volkswagen.ie/ie/en/models/s ... olors.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; & price list available on there http://www.volkswagen.ie/ie/en/models/s ... rices.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; its indicates the MDI connection is optional (part of the media pack or available separately) the price list is dated Nov 2010
so possibly a stupid question but does your car actually have the MDI connection in the armrest? if it doesn't then the €105+ is not just for a cables but the connection point & connecting it into the radio
the brochure states "The optional MDI (Multi Device Interface) with cables" so if you have the MDI connection installed the cables should be present as otherwise you can't use it, if you don't have the MDI connection then it is definitely optional as per the brochures indicate so sorry but you'll have to pay up & if you have the MDI connection but no cables then go give them merry hell as they would be there as per the wording in the brochurewhich states it should work 'straight out of the box' with the included cables
i'm not sure where it was indicated to you that this had become standard equipment in ireland but I think you will struggle to to try & tell them otherwise as the brochures & prices lists on the irish site are very more definitive & up to date (compared to the uk site which are hardly ever up to date or correct)

I had asked the guy who sold me for these to be included. Well, iPhone (even though he said it didnt work with the iPhone, only iPod) cable as I didnt know about the USB. But I got that too. Just go back and say wtf why wasnt it included. I'm sure for the sake of a couple of quid, they'd rather have the better WoM and not a buggered off customer.

Re: A definitive answer to iPod Cable Inclusion
Thanks for the info folks. They were originally saying it way previously included, then not included, then coming as standard on my model for Nov 2010 builds. Confusing to say the least but the discrepancies between the UK and Irish specs may have been what muddied the waters in my mind.

Re: A definitive answer to iPod Cable Inclusion [Ireland]
Bumping the thread slightly as the dealer is quoting me €200 (£170) for cable and fitting.
Which is taking the piss in my book.
Anyone attempted this themselves as I want it the functionality, but am not willing to pay ripoff prices for a cable and connection point?

That's the whole "Media in" option, isn't it?
I think it was quoted something like 110 euros on factory orders here in FInland, so that sounds about right.
