Hair Line Scratches

Post by VWMerc »

I cleaned my car for the 1st time on Saturday. I bought it 2nd hand off the dealer and got it last Thursday.

Anyway, all was well with the finish that I could see except around the curved edges of the rear bumper. Its got really thin scratches. Hardly visable but there is dirt in them so they do show up and I could not clean them out with the wash. I am sure they will come out with a polish but my question is should I use a 'T' cut or other product or just elbow grease when cleaning.

Don't use Tcut its too harsh. Do you know what has caused the damage? Could you post up a pic?

Thats the best I can do. Looks pretty bad the more I look at it. Not sure what has done it. Could be the dirt off the road or VW garage cleaning it with dirty water from daily clean when it was in the showroom.

Sorry only just seen your pic. Mmmmm.............. Odd. A machine polish would be needed, bearing in mind this is plastic, care needs to be taken. This would be best done by a pro. By the looks of it, full correction would not be possible, especially being on an edge where the clear coat will be at its minimum. Very difficult to gauge without seeing it in the 'flesh'.

I gave it a go with some neat Lusso car shampoo and elbow grease. It has not removed the scratches but has removed the dirt in them. If your willing to come to Essex (Romford) then maybe early next year we could have a chat about it as I am looking for someone to do a good once over on the my Roc anyway.
