Aw, crap. The garage put Continentals on mine, ContiSportContact 3 on one side, and er, ContiSportContact 2 on the other side. So if I get to 10k on these then I'm doing well?

The wear on these generally seems appalling. Too much torque from the mighty TDI 140?! Still, I don't think my first set of Michelins even made it to 15k miles on my Golf V 1.6 FSI...

You guys must be driving like hell :D

I did over 70.000 miles on Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 on my mk5 Golf. With still 3mm left, when i sold it.
I've done 6000 miles in my 2,0TSI now, with no noticeable wear. On Goodyear Eagle Assymmetric.

I have Bridgestone on mine which the fronts were changed at about 14K. Now done nearly 23K and looks like the fronts will need changed in another 5K miles. At 23K the original rears have more tread left on them than my second set on the fronts. I am not a hard driver and I suspect the the Bridgestone Potenzas have a soft compound. Might look for an alternative when they need replacing.

Anybody got any idea what tyre would last a bit longer ?

I don't know how long they'll last, but these Continentals are excellent. It feels like it's on rails again, even in this relentless Glasgow rain.

Count yourself lucky, my old bike could quite happily use a rear tyre in about 1000miles. In one week, whilst on leave I used 2 rear tyres. Had a 3 trackday frenzy!

General wear on my Dunlop Sport Maxx GTs seems pretty good. But i done a track day and reckon lost 2-3mm. Be nice if I got to 10k with another track day.

I've got my Aug 10 on Pirelli P7 Cinturato, I don't think this is the standard tyre for new car, anyone got ideas on mileage to expect from these, I like heavy accelerating and braking? :)

I threw set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics on recenty at 15k and noticed much better ride and better in wet than Dunlops. I was impressed with wear on Dunlops and agree with above I too normally get less than these out of fronts although mine were rotated so I cheated a touch. Replaced all 4 in end. Bridgestones on wifes A3 lasted just 12k!!! Be interested to see what Michelins do for handling but will probably last longer.....

I'm will be changing my fronts this week (1.4tsi). The tyres are Bridgestones and I've done 17K on them, so I'm very pleased.
My last car was a Brera that would go through the fronts every 10K and they cost nearly twice the price of the Rocs's Bridgestones, one of the reasons I got shut of it.

I found this useful site whilst I was looking around

I'm probably going to get new fronts on friday. Looking at either the conti sport contacts or pirelli P zero's.

Issue before last evo done a performance tyre review for front wheel drive. Worth reading if your looking at getting new pair. Conti's new 5P tyre was the best by a bit.

Yeah the magazine reviews are on that link I posted above. The conti 3's look like a good compromise so I'm plumping for them.

Same here. No idea what to expect either, P7 reviews on the 'net weren't particularly illuminating. Seems like only Aug 10 cars got the Pirellis :?

I've done around 12000 miles on my Falken FK452 235/30-20 now, and they will last me another year or two, at least
