Leasing a Scirocco

Post by Vet_2010 »

Hi,

I'm new to the board and was wondering if anyone knew of any good deals or would recommend any companies worth whle checking out with regards to leasing a scirocco.
I'm currently driving a 2007 2.2 Diesel Civic and looking to change to the 2.0 TSI Scirocco GT. I've got a test drive organised for next week and I'm pretty confident the scirocco will be my next car. I've never leased a car before but given I'm most likely going to want to change every couple of years it looks like the best option.

Any other general suggestions regarding the car would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers,

Colin

I contract hire mine. Best quote I could get was from my regular place (third car I've had from them), plus they're a bit more flexible in that they'll do a 1+35 plan, i.e. no deposit, rather than the usual 3+33 or 3+36 (if you go contract hire, watch for the 3+33 v 3+36 deals - the second means 3 additional payments which can add up).

This is the place I used and they also do leasing and PCPs: http://www.dayscontracthire.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Private lease?

I went to Wessex Fleet Hire & got a good deal but I think I dropped on. Don't expect to be able to get one before the end of the year though! Delivery times just got about 6 weeks added to them

I would just try a dealer, there is a 3 + 23 deal on some sites for about 289 ex vat for a 2.0l tsi and you will add about 15 quid extra a month if you want metallic.

I found when leasing my car is that dealers are not as interested in leasing you a car because it makes them very little money (or so they say)

Anyone been stung for hidden charges when returning leased cars? Like being overzealous on the "wear and tear", expecting a showroom car back with no paint chips on the bonnet etc after 2 or 3 years and expecting you to replace all 4 tyres etc?

That's my biggest deterrent from getting a lease car, the fear of these hidden charges.

For me, buying the car with a loan over 5 years, i'm probably paying about £80 a month more than a leaser, but selling it after 3 years, it should conservatively be worth about £2500 more than I owe on the loan at the 3 year point (will owe £9k, expecting residual value to be at least £11.5K with 30k miles), so divvying that £2500 over 36 months doesn't make me any worse off than saving £80 a month by leasing in the first place.

If it wasn't for the fear of being hit by hidden costs at the end of the lease, i'd probably be leasing my car right now.

There's a specific body (cant think of the name of it now) that lays down the rules on acceptable wear and tear - i've had an Audi A6 and and EClass Merc on leases over the last 4 years, both returned with no problems - in both cases I was sent a pack prior to return with a list of acceptable damage, with, in one case, a template with holes in - basically any scratches had to be smaller than the template holes. - not had a single problem with stone chips - they accept it as normal, especially on higher mileage vehicles.

I'm paying £340pm for my 'Roc, but thats with highish mileage - 25k a year which ups the cost quite a lot. - you can get some good deals if you shop around, i've always used http://www.contracthireandleasing.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for comparisons.

Hey,

I've been using http://www.nationwidevehiclecontracts.c ... easing.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to try to get the most for my money - I'm getting a work car however they let me pick the lease up to a certain amount and then they take care of Insurance and Maintenance on top. That site is really handy cos you can add extras like leather and dynaudio etc and alter the mileage/contract term length and it calculates it straight away for you. So far I'm thinking 170bhp GT in Red with the black leather and dynaudio so I got a quote of that site and went into my local VW to ask them to beat it/give me more extras, just waiting on them getting back to me now!

I'm about to order a GT 170 TDI (manual) with 19" Lugano's on a Business Contract Hire for £324 plus VAT per month on a 3 + 35 month deal from local VW dealer. Based on 10,000 miles per year and includes maintenance, servicing and no quibble tyres. The maintenance charge included in the above price is only £18.35 per month which multiplied by 38 means £697.30 over the three years i would have the car. I doubt i would be able to pay for three services and at least one set of tyres for this amount so i think the maintenance is well worth it.

Dealer reckons if ordered before end of October I would have the car built for February.

Does any one know of a better deal?

Mine :)

1+35, 2.0 TSi, Sunroof + metallic + black lugano, but no maintenance, so arguably only just better, £347 a month (remember I have two less payments when looking at overall costs).

The drawback with contract hire is that the extras add up - with metallic and standard lugano I think the quote was just over £300.

Do all main dealers do personal contract hire? My local dealer said they would only do for business users.

So does that mean the likes ok Gateway2lease, Nationwide, Stable etc are giving the cheap personal rates by putting them through as a sole trader on a business lease?

You're probably better off at looking at deals from specialist companies anyway (some do personal contract hire, but of course you can't claim half the VAT back as a personal hirer) - I've never find any leasing / contract hire offer from a dealer to be particularly competitive. Don't know how common it is, but my contract hire company let you specify the dealer so you can still benefit from the convenience of dealing locally.

Ordered it in august, hoping for delivery end of november. Mine was slightly different though at 6+24 and £202+vat per month
