Time to cancel

Post by wavodavo »

Hello everyone.
I checked my car today for an update. It has now moved back another 3 weeks, making it BW 48 and still unconfirmed. Looks like I will not be seeing my car this side of Christmas and may not even see it in January. That'll be a 10 month wait for me (with the R in production!)
I am seriously thinking of cancelling if the can't give me any goodwill etc or maybe lookfor a second hand one.
I do suggest to u all that if you have ordered yours at the end of march onwards that you go and see your dealer and see what they say - don't let them give you any bull***t and have a serious think whether waiting that long is worth it. I work for a dealer, so I know the ins and outs.

Official line is that the average wait for an R is around 10 months for new orders.

I'm in a very similar position/mind set to you. I ordered in May and the updated estimate for delivery is now 31 December. I have nearly cancelled several times but when I look at the alternatives, I have always backed off. I am still hopeful that I might get a courtesy car from VW but have been told that this is not certain because I added some options to the order when I learned about the delays. Apparently, adding DAB, Dynaudio, 19" wheels and leather seats has delayed the production of my car! Clearly, not off the shelf options then...

I would not order one now if I knew I had to wait 10 months.

Here it is... Straight from VWUK. My car is estimated to be built on.... 1st week of Jan. I ordered in march. Plus if I wished to add the new options from week 45 changes it would put me to the back of the queue. Truly disgraceful. Im too angry to do anything at the moment but the next week will be spent looking at my options.

Just of the phone to my dealer, BW still 44 but will have all 2011 standard updates interior etc. VW have stopped 'R' production BW41 will restart BW44 to incorporate changes. As for courtesy car approved by VW they are just finding a comparable Hire car.

after much deliberation last night, the only thing that catches my eye to an equivalent level is the Nissan GTR, but as that is double the price and still only available in March, best hold tight.

Feeling LadyRocr's pain now.
